Obsidian Sparks loadout confirmed.

Rookie, stop being negative. This is a F2P title and it will need to sell ā€˜cosmetics’. Period (…I just hope it is done tastefully, not like TF2).

I’d love this in pub!!! Not trying to be spiteful, I love the game and will stick around, but can’t wait to see this point addressed sooner rather than later.
One thing I hate is matches stuck in 1st objective; one after another. (I mainly play Objective mode …think what you will).

(Idiophobia) #23

You can’t just have hats alone, you need a large number of hats and trading.
It’s the trading that keeps the game going, not the hats, the hats are just there for something people will always want to trade.

Seriously just literally copy TF2’s business model 100% nobody is going to mind.

(rookie1) #24

Just a Warning red light …Dont want DB turned ridiculous

(AssortedStuff) #25

Yeah, I understand you, and I wish the same. But it is out of our hands. And they have to make money somehow. (let’s hope it’s not by having silly hats)

Idiophobia being a practical dude  and you’re probably right.

(Ruben0s) #26

I doubt it will ever happen.

(Szakalot) #27

interesting, very interesting.

How did it go?

August 2015

Daily players: 4000 to 7000
Total players: 500 000

September 2015

Daily: 1500 to 5500
Total players: 250 000

Private lobbies are coming which is a huge deal. But is it enough?
I’d say rentable servers are needed to build communities. Why play with strangers so often time when you can make new friends on a server you know? Its Multiplayer 101 knowledge. SD should know this. Its failure on a deep core level.

Edit: Im not trying to hate or disrespect SD. I just wish they were as smart as me

is this private lobby thing even a big deal people who wanted to scrim already have the passwords to private servers and normally have the admin password to change the maps if need be

#31

ā€œpeople who wanted to scrim already have the passwordsā€

How do you know?

You dont know.

About 0,0002 % players know about it.

And if 5% of players usually are clanplayers, then 5% should know about it at minimum.

Prefered is have more than 5% to know about the feature so the 5% can grow/bring in more players.

Your way of thinking is backwards and upsetting me.

Even if 5% knew about the passwords now, there is only a handfull of servers, which is close to nothing, compared to 5% where hundreds to thousands of servers can be needed.

With a feature available in the menu available for everyone, means to actually have the feature.

When a feature is available, and it will also be used and planned to be used.

I just wish that the objectives were activated, or interactable when I switch to a map alone via a console command. Basically, as I know right now, there is no way to practice trickjumping in the second part of the underground map, because the objectives are disabled.

I used to be able to join a lan server of RTCW, ET, and ETQW, and start a game with just me in it, and go through the objectives and watch how the map interacts, as well as looking at the plant, defuse, repair animations without anyone else trying to shoot at me.

(Glottis-3D) #33

Phantom update was crutial. lots of ppl left. (you cn see on graph how numbers went down after update.)

(Loki.) #34

That was a great feature in ETQW…
Always amazed me, when i heard the ā€˜learning curve’ (for ETQW) was too High… ! ??

(signofzeta) #35

Do you know how to get people to come back? Do what I suggested in another thread and release Stoker with a Flamethrower as well as his fire grenades, and convert him into an Assault class. Likewise, convert Thunder into a fire support class, make him lose his concussion grenades, and instead have some sort of lightning bolt ability, where lightning literally comes from the sky to do something. That would get players interested for a while. Stoker would lose the ammo station, and give it to Thunder.

God, this makes me so sad. I am not playing even myself, but hoped others would like it…

I hope that SD will sooner or later make a slight change towards a more teambased and competitive environment because I think that is the nature of any F2P MP only PVP game. You need to have a reason to play with others and preferable friends and have a good environment for competing against others. The current style of making it individually independent and casual is not going to work I am afraid.

I remember the forums used to be more lively when ETQW was all the rage, but I am not so sure about this game. I remember I was all ET and ETQW all the time, and for Dirty Bomb, I’m just not feeling it.

If only objectives were activated during warmup.

To me personally, the game should have all the characters locked, and the rotation would be 5 mercs, one of each class. Your squad would have 5 mercs, one of each class. It would change up the game because Aura and Skyhammer aren’t always there all the time. The second thing is a weekly rotation, not a biweekly rotation. Too late now anyway. People would rage if Aura and Skyhammer suddenly weren’t free anymore.

Another idea for rotation would be a staggered rotation, that is if they do the 5 merc rotation thing with Aura and Skyhammer locked. 3 of the mercs would rotate out, and 3 new ones rotate in, leaving 2 to stay. After that, the 2 oldest ones rotate out, and one of the new ones rotate out, leaving 2, and 3 are added, and the cycle continues. That way, way 4 mercs are there for 2 weeks, and one is there for one week.

As I said too late anyway.

Why do numbers keep dropping?

  1. Playing it regularly gets boring. I usually open the game for 1-4 day(s) and then return after a new patch is released, just to test a merc or any other feature. But you can release even 1000 mercs and it won’t change the fact that matches on 6 flat, schematic maps only are totally monotonous. I don’t get why you can’t even leave Dome for testing for longer than 3 days while the game is still in beta stages… Thus an SDK is essential if the game is supposed to be active on a long-term basis.
  2. Cheaters are an annoyance. A day without meeting at least one cheater in DB before the new anti-cheat was implemented - unexpectable. Now they seem to appear rarer, but it might be my luck when I’m choosing servers.
  3. There’s no reason to set up clans/communities apart from partaking in the competitive scene (which isn’t really expanding either). Private servers aren’t and won’t be a solution to this problem.

I find this to be very true. Not going to mention names here, but one thing the games that keep me excited about them have that DB lacks is a varying degree of freedom. Be it tactical freedom, or freedom of loadouts, how to approach an objective task, or whatever; the common factor is that I feel like they all let me do something. And that element keeps the play fresh for me. More to the point, I find there’s been sooooo much restriction in DB that there’s, on a basic level, only 1 way to play it: the devs way. While I realize the importance of not letting players just go wild, I think having so many restrictions is a huge mistake. One that the past games by SD didn’t make…which I find odd. At any rate, yeah, the games gets…tedious(for lack of a better word) to me very quickly. I find myself lately just checking out the new mercs(or just watching a friend check them out) then I lose interest.
