It depends on wetter or not Chuck Norris is playing on the server. Noob=dosent take much hardware, Cuck Norris=fireing alle the fucking time, killing everyone alle the time and doing everything at the same time. Chuck Norris can only play on NASA servers…
iservers don’t run the way you suggest in this thread min server requirements are just that
you want to have a little extra to keep the server frame rate above 24FPS closer to 60 is what I strive for
I have running servers since Q2 serious gamers will only seek out servers that run on the high end
servers running at min specs are prone to various lag issues and most good players will not come back
consider it this way some guy who just upgraded his rig to play this game with a high fps drops into a server running min specs (most of 'em unfortuneately) do you think he will stay to play if the server frame rate is inthe mid 20s and he has just parted with 2 grand to run 60+ frames?
if you are a reseller how many instances you run on one machine is where its at and that means low frame rates
Just nagging - but please add punctuation and capitalization to your sentences. It makes your posts so much better.
The :nag: man thanks you!
It isn’t a linear relationship. More players requires exponentially more power and bandwidth.
It would be cool if SD released a ballpark figure. (Worst case (IE less then what they have it now) and Best case(what they hope to get efter optimization)
ballpark figures say a month before release would be very handy in planning for getting good servers up sharpish after release. Let’s you know what to keep aside and plan what sort of configurations you can do.
Course, a mp_test helps everyone figure this out
I still hoping for some kind of demo before the final release - including server.
Indeed. Given the fact the netcode has supposedly been heavily modifed (and how bad the D3 netcode was with that many players), and the possible balance issues, this seems like a very good idea. :moo:
