Remove 8v8 servers, add 5v5

In my opinion 8vs8 is really too much for most maps. It feels really spammy and I always have to switch to fragger to feel effective xD
7vs7 should really be the maximum.
I would like some 5v5 servers instead.
Your thoughts?

I think they should do 5v5 unranked MM where you can join with friends but you can’t pick which side you’re placed on to keep people from stacking by pub stomping. Increase incentives for doing so and then increase them even more for ranked MM which would work the way it does now.

No reason to REMOVE 8v8; its fun to jump in once in a while for complete mayhem.

5v5 servers won’t work in casual due to people dropping in and out. Its also harder to balance;as one good player can be worth 3-4 crappy ones. You’ll get plenty of situations where one team turns out to be much stronger, people from the losing team ragequit throughout the map, nobody has a good game (unless 5v3 bashing is your thing).

I’d much rather have casual 5v5 stopwatch matchmaking (kind of what it is now, except nobody is playing it), without rank influences etc. so people can join in for fun and have well balanced 5v5 games.

What you describe is happening in 8v8 servers too… I don’t see balanced matches very often
And there should be some general balance in casual matches as soon as rankings etc are implemented
i don’t see any reason for 5v5 casual matchmaking, that’s what competitive mode is for

there are other reasons why matches are unbalanced, but overall I’d say that 8v8 casual is much closer to being balanced and enjoyable to the average newbie (more spam = more random kills).

Don’t think there’s any reason whatsoever to remove 8v8s. If you are afraid the spam and chaos will keep newbs away, then I can only say it’s on them for not looking at the server browser and making a conclusion themselves. Like I honestly can’t figure out a good reason for which you’d call for the devs to remove the possibility of playing in teams of eights.
And if it’s just you not enjoying them or they are too confusing for you, then play sixes. And use the bloody server browser, it’s there for a reason.

Vote for neither. Keep 8v8 and add 5v5.

I don’t like 8v8, some people do.

I spend most of my time on 6v6, and would downsize to 5v5 were they available, but I’m still happy to let those who like 8v8 play on their servers, while I play on the ones I choose.

I’d like to keep the 8v8 servers and add a couple 5v5 stopwatch servers for each region.

The game plays way different when it’s 5v5 than 8v8. This way you get people familiar with the matchmaking format and it might entice them to try it.

So more the game has the better. Why should we remove stuff? You don’t need to play 8v8 if you don’t like it. But I know people who would be disapointed if 8v8 was removed.

16 players in this game is too much, terminal as example completely doesn’t fit to big amount of players.

What do you mean “without rank influences”? If there’s no rank at all, you get the same balance issues you mentioned. If the rank is only hidden, then this is a really minor difference to split competitive matchmaking up for.

I think it would be best if everyone would simply play ranked match making whenever they want to play a “proper” game. I hope that we soon get to a point where this is feasible.

I didn’t think there are people who like it, that’s why i made a poll.
Maps are simply too small, and fragger is totally op for 8v8.
new players will get rekt all the time by fraggers and naders.
But of course if there are people who like it, they should stay

While I don’t really like 8vs8 games, 5vs5 does not seem suited for pub plays. Could be an addition, but casual matchmaking should remain open IMO. Also, what about players who like playing 8vs8 ? 8vs8 servers should definitely not be removed. 5vs5 servers could be added, but that’s all.

Actually, your poll should have better be “would you like some 5vs5 servers ?”. I think it’s much better for feedback. I am not fond of 8vs8 servers, but I see no good reason to remove them. :stuck_out_tongue:
