Remote setting up a Linux ET-server.

(JasperP) #1

Hi,

Our clan wants to set up a 60 player Enemy Territory (public) server and we found a
good host for it. It’s a dedicated server running Fedora Linux and PLESK 7.5 Reloaded.

I have a bit of experience with Linux (Debian, Knoppix) and I’m eager to learn, but I don’t know how to do it/where to start. :bored:

It will run ETPro and all the configs are all ready (tested on a win32 LAN-server).

I have root access to the server and the best help I could find was
http://tjw.org/etded/. Can anybody help me with this, or maybe give tips? :frowning:

Thanks in advance,

Jasper :lookaround:

umm connect over ssh to ur root. make a new user. ( et-host)
log on to et-host via ssh
find a linux version of et. with direkt http:// or ftp:// link
make a new dir with mkdir etfiles change to et with cd et tyoe wget and the link of the http:// oder ftp:// source
after dl run the install file u need to provide ur root pw to install et. after that get the 1.02 patch for linx the same way as the gane into et-files
run them to patch et. change to ur install dir of et and dl etpro into it. then with unzip etpro… u installed the etpro thingy.
after that alter ur server.cfg and then the magic monent START it with screen ./etded +set fs_game etpro +exec server.cfg +exec campaigncylce.cfg +exec punkbuster.cfg + pb_sv_update
then press control+a+d and the server will be “backgounded”. if u want to recover it write screen -r -d with control+c u can cancel it.
so this was the very very brief “howto” install et

sry i’m lil of time… sp sry 4 any bad english or mistyped words…

Thx for your reaction!

I connected with putty and with your directions and http://tjw.org/etded/ I managed to get it started!

Only thing I have’t managed is a Startup Script like described on tjw.org.
