Reload bug and other weirdness

Had a really shitty night on the www.rtcw.co.uk Campaign server last night cos all sorts of weirdness was happening that was making the game practically unplayable.

First of I was getting the “reload bug” whereby my reload key didn’t work. I was dying even more than usual cos I couldn’t reload in a firefight. I tried reconnecting, but it didn’t seem to fix it. As I use MOUSE3 to reload I wonder whether it’s my mouse playing up. Hope not as I’ve always used MOUSE3 for reload and would find it hard to get used to another key.

But I was also having problems with Class selection. Often I would respawn as a different Class to that which I was when I died. And this would happen without me making any selections in the Limbo menu, or touching any of the keys I use with my Class selection script.

I’ve experienced both these things before, but last night it was doing it constantly. Is this just a “bug” or is my hardware / config screwed? I’m not sure if this has ever happened on ETPro servers. If not I guess it’s just a bug with vanilla ET. If so I gues I’ll be staying away from vanilla ET servers from now on :frowning:

there is a reload bug where you just get the reload animation, and then it doesn’t reload. I have only had this happen when hosting my own game, but I’ve heard other people complain of it online. Not sure if it is fixed in etpro or not.

The class switching thing is mostly a vanilla bug. It happens when you get level 4 light or heavy weapons. I say mostly, because I think I have had random class changes in etpro, but in vanilla it happens every time. In etpro, if it happens at all, it is very rare.

Really, every server should run etpro, just for the bug fixes :confused:

Damn reload bug, often happens to me on al servers when i’m carrying a garand, i dunno what to do either.

It’s not…

I played on our own server last night (The “Mustard For Everyone”) and i had the reload bug, but a reconnect solved the problem.

all kinds of weird stuff usually happen if you join a server at the moment it switches map

the way to get around that reload bug is to press what ever number button your problem weapon is assigned to and then press R . that will make it reload your weapon. so if you cant get your SMG to reload what you would do is press 3 then R and the SMG will reload. Pain in the ass but at least there is a way to reload.

I have experienced same problems…alltho…its mostly as sniper…then i cant reload… it might work for a period…but after some rounds…it will not work for sure, and u will have to shoot ur gun dry of ammo… (still only with sniper)

I have experienced some other problems…but ive made some commands that should “reset” the most basic stuff… like

set reset01 “+reload;wait;-reload;wait;+attack;wait;-attack;cg_autoactivate 0;wait;cg_autoactivate 1; vstr reset02”
set reset02 “etcetc…”
bind F12 vstr reset01

or else…if u got ALL ur cvars and binds in a file…u can try /cvar_restart and after that exec ur cvar/setup file… WARNING…ALL cvars/binds will be reset…so be sure to have them stored in ur file…

sure…and loose your XP and stats…+the chance of full server… everytime it happens… :frowning: nah…i would try my little trick :wink: … if THAT doesent work…yes true a reconnect will probby work…

FWIW, I found the random class switch bug and it’ll be fixed in the next release. :smiley: (So yes, you probably have seen the random class changes–I know I have, and they annoyed the holy crap out of me.)

well theres another bug thats really bugging me.
ive made a really perfect .cfg for me…
and when i connect to a server, it works for ONE time. then i connect to the same server (first totally quit the game) and it loads an other .cfg, totally other. 800x600, everything on normal.
well, that suxx!

Everyone hates that bug. There are several ways to work around it–you can find several posted here (try searching the forums (for e.g. “800x600 bug”), or looking elsewhere.)
