This is great, although I feel 16 teams is a bit much. Bots behave strangely when close to the briefcase carrier. They all focus you when they see you, but when you run around a corner they forget about you and start shooting eachother instead. They’ll also not come for you if you hide in the right place.
GPMG is a bit overpowered I feel 1 GPMG in a bunker (played slipgate) and a medic behind him defending the door with a shotty = instawin. SSM won’t hit you in there at the end of the game either.
I really enjoyed it though, this is great fun =D
It’s currently 8 teams (16 bots) on the server, that’s indeed a bit too much but it’s mostly to compensate for the bot stupidness when playing alone - the good old brute-force AI.
But I can assure you, it’s getting a lot harder with more human players on the field :infiltrator:
We had some good mathces on saturday, with 2x3 humans teams and some bots - that was quite thrilling but some adjustments might be needed over time.
The mod seems to be pretty stable now at least, and most things works as expected - but need more players to try it out and learn the tricks.
Finding yourself a camping spot at the edge of the map seems the most effective way to do it against bots anyway. half of them will never find you, the other half will all come from the same direction. With a medic bot on your team you should be set for the entire game.
My suggestions: Airstrikes are too powerful. If you blow up a crate of fuel you get 8 airstrikes, whereas you get to throw and blow up only two third eyes.
Some kind of award should be given to players who stay alive as a team, aside from being braced. Maybe players should level up like the regular game, except relatively quickly, but lose their abilities when forced to tap.
+1 for Staying Alive Award http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=II-ggjcER-k
Kind of agree about the airstrikes too, even if it’s really fun to launch so many in a row :oppressor:
Funny thing happened on outskirts, all the bots ended up at the databrain pickup spot facing in towards it but not shooting at each other, unfortunately didnt’ get a screeny
Yes known problem, I guess the briefcase objective trigger their “capture the databrain” lust. Can probably be fixed by manipulating the bot script code a bit (or remove the databrain).
I have some suggestions: The MCP firing the SSM is awesome and I think you should have it fire every 4 minutes instead of just at the end of the match. It stirs things up nicely and it’s great to watch
The game gets boring pretty soon otherwise, I played Refinery with a mate and we got bored after 10 minutes as all you have to do right now is camp in a corner of the map and you win.
The vehicles are nice but who gets one is a bit too random. They also drop in inaccessible places at times, which is amusing but probably unintended.
I’m not really sure I like the specialised crates, I feel it should be more of a surprise what comes out of a crate, risking it’s something you don’t need.
Seems like you buffed the SSM quite a bit too, I got killed way out of range which was a nice surprise
1 suggestion: Give the engineer and fieldops deployables which take ammo and repairs, allowing people to build their own base is always fun. With the amount of heavy vehicles and weapons you get at the end it shouldn’t be too hard to take them down either. Having artillery should also help killing anansi’s. A good pilot in the anansi with the datadisk is autowin, you can evade everything and kill everyone outside their range.
It’s shaping up nicely though, keep up the good work as it’s definately got potential.
I think Light is on to something. Allow anyone to drop deployables anywhere, as long as one isn’t landing in the spot.
I always liked the idea of modular deployables that would be something similar to the gpmg fortification towers, that could be constructed in a way reminiscent of Baserace.
One idea to help the startup lag, how about staggering seperate threads to spawn in say 10 or so objects every 10 secs or so rather than 150 in one go
