Regarding Windows 10

(Mister__Wiggles) #101

Its a known issue for win 10 that the new way it downloads drivers causes all sorts of problems. You are best to go to the nvidia website and download the most recent driver for your GPU and opt for a clean install. I had a couple of issues at first but now DB runs good and imo better than before.

What I did was disable the ability for w10 to update my drivers automatically and installed them with the nvidia software instead.

  1. download nvidia geforce experience from nvidia website.
  2. Rclick on the start menu button->settings system->advanced system settings->hardware tab->device installation settings-> select no.
  3. rclick on the windows button->select device manager->display adaptors
  4. select your graphics card and uninstall
  5. click on the action drop down menu and select “scan for hardware changes”
  6. install geforce experience and nvidia drivers.

Glad I didn’t update my drivers then, lol.

I still rock windows 8 cause im old school

Sadly this option is currently broken.

(balu) #106

can’t find “settings” after rightclicking the start menu button

(Ghosthree3) #107

He’s talking about this, http://i.imgur.com/C1KSfYR.png

But I repeat, it is broken, it does not work right now. Which is really REALLY bad. This should have been fixed before release.

(frzn) #108

derp, that should be system rather than settings. Also forgot to say that “device installation settings” is in the hardware tab.

Coffee before internet next time.

We should all admit that XP is still the best

I’ve noticed if you play Dirty Bomb (and other games, I imagine) in Full Screen mode and try to take a screen shot using print screen, it won’t actually capture your game. You’ll need to either use steam’s screen shot feature (F12? I think) or the new Win10 “Game Capture” thing, which is Windows Key + Alt + Print Screen. Just went to look at something I screen shotted yesterday and realised it’s blank.

Not an issue per se, just something to be aware of if you screen shot stuff!

(balu) #112

So yesterday i upgraded to win10 and DB was working without problems.
Later that day i got a message to install the NVIDIA Windows 10 Driver to fix bugs and stuff, which i did.
So today i wanted to start DB but it doesnt even load any more.
Repairing/Reinstalling didnt help so ye idk.

Nothing but problems here with Windows 10 and Dirty Bomb. First did the upgrade option and got all kinds of crashing. So I did a clean install and still getting crashing. Trying older drivers now for video card but so far its not good. Nothing has changed with my system except Windows 10. Well now that I think about it, I installed Windows 10 on the same day latest hotfix patch for Dirty Bomb was released.

So i did a clean reinstall and now DB is working again. Thanks guys

I think I have my problem solved thanks to this thread http://forums.dirtybomb.nexon.net/discussion/14906/after-the-fine-tuning-update-db-kept-crashing-to-desktop-here-is-how-i-fixed-it-might-help-others#latest

Looks like it wasnt a Windows 10 issue afterall. Deleting the UnrealEngine3 folder seems to have solved it.

(Ghosthree3) #116

Let it be known, clean install fixes all problems!

THis has always happened with games that are “full screen” especially on windows 7. It’s usually fixed with full screen borderless or windowed borderless, it also makes alt+tabbing easier

This is pretty normal, print screen captures the desktop on Windows, and can be isolated to a single window if you use alt - not sure where you’re getting wkey from. When in fullscreen your desktop isn’t rendered, which is sort of the point, so any screenshot you take is going to come out black because there’s nothing there. So yes you have to use hooked software like steam overlay or fraps to do it. Not really a big issue, and definitely not one big enough to ignore the huge performance increase you get from being in fullscreen.

(Backuplight) #119

Coming from Windows 7, I’m used to just hitting print screen and have it save to my Dropbox, even within full screen mode. The Windows Key + Alt pairing seems to be some Win10 feature involving the game bar, like if you hit Windows Key + Alt + R, it’ll start recording gameplay. Agreed it’s not really an issue, I understand what happens with full screening, it was just something I encountered after upgrading.

Edit: Having just seen @Witchy’s comment saying this happened in Win7 as well, I’m wondering whether I’m overlooking something I changed in my setup over the last week or two. Possibly not anything to do with the switch from Win7 to 10.

I recently just intstalled Windows 10 last night and it’s been working wonderfully. Haven’t had any in-game problems whatsoever and i’ve actually gotten a bit higher frame-rate (220-300FPS which isn’t very noticeable on a 120Hz monitor.)
