Refund of the game with steam ?

(supermac) #1

Hi everybody, :D:D:D

I give up… This game will never be playable … no hopes even with future catalyst 11.7
This game don’t seems to be “on the list” for ATI, it’s dead …
SD doesn’t care about us and our ATI problems , ATI too …

Is there a way to get back my money with steam ?
When I buy something who doesn’t work I can recover my money no?

In this case, I can do something ? 40 euros in my a** … for an unplayable game …

Thanks a lot and have a good day! :):)

Steam generally doesn’t allow refunds for a game that you owned this long. With that said I think there are some ways to get your game up to a playable speed. Whats your system spec?

(Jimmy James) #3

First, you bought an ATI. You got what you paid for. If I were you, I’d be more concerned about exchanging my ATI for a real video card (nVidia).

Second, it’s $50 get over it, I drink more beer than that in a day.

So Ati suks because of Brink? Id rather say that the game suks with optimization and they even lied with the system specs as Ati was mentioned in recommended.

(supermac) #5

50 dollars for nothing, yes it’s big for me …
If it’s not for you, your problem … Go drink 50 dollars of beers by day, not my problem too

ATI 4890
i7 920

Already tried a lot of drivers and a lot of config (even in 1280 1024) with brink config , always “yo yo style” framerate between 25 and 80 fps … :frowning:

No, ATI has always sucked. I’ve been arguing on gaming forums for years (even with close friends) about how ATI sucks. 3dfx cards (predecessor to nVidia) have always been superior to ATI cards.

Some people are loyal to ATI, some people are loyal to nVidia. Some people complain that their game doesn’t run very well (or at all) and some people are playing it “The way it’s meant to be played”.

(Deadwalking) #7

There are to many players playing Brink with ATI cards for it to be just an ATI problem. There have also been a good amount of players with NVidia having issues as well.

Neither ATI nor NVidia are superior, both have good days and both have bad days. I have built PC’s that used Intel NVidia/AMD NVidia/Intel ATI/AMD ATI and all of them were just as easy as the rest to get running smoothly and performing well for the games being played at the times of the builds.

Back on Topic Steam can reimburse you the coin you spent on Brink. But will they after owning the game so long? I don’t know. The only way to know is to put in a support ticket requesting money back on a game you are not pleased with, and that you feel it was an incomplete title. Try and be civil and not use any derogatory language. Many other people out there have gotten there money back on a dissatisfied purchases thru Steam.

(supermac) #8

Same thing if I have the box version ?

(Deadwalking) #9

If you bought the box version then taking back to where you bought it from is the only way to get your money back. If it was thru a digital distributor you are only going to see funds available for another purchase it won’t actually be cash in your pocket. I can’t say for sure if being a boxed version you would have much luck.

Well and some of us don´t care at all if its nvidia or ati like me, but usually if you have a nvidia card and an ati card with exactly same specs and perfomance the atis ones are usually cheaper thats why we buy atis. And ati for me runs great in all games cept for brink.

l4d2 130 fps / tf2 120 / black ops 70 / bc2 50 fps / brink 20-30 fps D :

(supermac) #11

Same for me, I’ve got a lot of games and BRINK is the worst…
Very very bad optimisation, it’s a fact …

I’m sure of one thing, all the SD guys play with a Nvidia

You won’t get a refund from Steam sadly.

I wrote a very polite request detailing the problem I had had with the game. They told me I had played the game for 6 hours and therefore would not be getting a refund.

I thought this was an incredibly unprofessional reply.

I am never buying from Steam again, unless it’s a game I can’t buy from Amazon etc. Other people I know are doing the same - avoiding giving Steam money in the future where possible, it may sound silly - but we can’t believe how we have been treated - and also feel rather embarrassed for being hood winked by Splash Damage (we aren’t young and naive… ).

I live in the UK, so my consumer rights are such that I am entitled to a refund if I have been mis-sold a product.

My next step is to complain to an Ombudsman regarding Steam declining to refund over a mis-sold product (which incidentally was even removed from their store.)

I only buy games on promotion with steam …

You can sometimes get a refund, if you don’t have a lot of hours and this is your first time trying to refund a game. I refunded bc2 and they gave me steam store credit.

Send a msg on steam support. Good luck.

(supermac) #15

I will do that …

This game will never be playable so I have no choice

Thanks all for your help !

How many hours did you have on BC2? You were lucky to be refunded - I have never asked for a refund from Steam (in fact from anyone in my 15 years buying PC Games), and they flatly refused a refund. I would have been happy with Steam credits, but instead they will lose a few hundred £ from me over the coming years.

This game is perfectly playable if you meet the minimum system requirements. Hell it plays fine for me and I don’t even meet the minimum system requirements.

For all my complaints about ATI cards, apparently there are quite a number of people out there playing Brink on an ATI card without any problems. So, maybe it’s something else?

What is your hardware setup (Processor, RAM, Sound Card, etc.) and OS?

Where have you been for the last month? A huge number of ATI users cannot play this game at a good fps, even people far exceeding the minimum specs.

(Jimmy James) #19

I understand that, if you bothered to read any of my posts earlier in this thread you would see that. What I was saying is that I recently became aware of a number of ATI users who aren’t having that problem. Get it?

I actually did read all your posts in this thread, as much as I don’t enjoy reading misguided Nvidia (or ATI) fanboy posts such as your first. But, I’m afraid I don’t see how you “understand” when you say the following:
