I was wondering if there was an online resource or a way in-game to find out what all the available ref commands mean? After I log in as ref, I can’t find a method that gives me a basic overview on what a command does. I’ve tried /help <command name> and /ref help <command name> but that doesn’t do anything. Any suggestions?
/ref Commands
ref:
[ul]
[li] remove <playername / playerID> - removes the player from the team and makes him/her spectator.
[/li][li] mute <player> - mutes the player
[/li][li] nextmap - changes to next map ==> in campaign mode this will mean… next campaign.
[/li][li] map <mapname> - changes map to <mapname> (might be etpro only?).
[/li][li] putallies <player> - puts player on allied team.
[/li][li] putaxis <player> - same as above.
[/li][li] lock / unlock - locks and unlocks the teams(locked teams won’t allow new players to join).
[/li][li] map_restart / matchrestart - will reset and restart the match/map… dunno exactly.
[/li][li] shuffleteamsxp - will shuffle the teams by XP.
[/li][li] kick <player> <seconds> or /ref kick <player> - will kick and ban the player for <seconds> secs, if you don’t give it <Seconds>, it’ll ban for 2 mins by default.
[/li][li] etc etc etc… Most of them are very easy
[/li][/ul]
Some people think it’s easier to use the ref menu… I prefer using the console…
Thanks a lot for the help. lol, I didn’t even know there was a ref menu because I was doing everything through the console (which I prefer also). Do you by chance know what the console ref command is to make someone a spectator? I see that you can do it in the menu, and I’ve tried \ref putspec and \ref putspectator but neither work :???:
While we are talking about ref commands, does anyone use /ref specinvite <playerid> in matches? Is it allowed by clanbase for instance? And how can you see if players are specinvited (/players?).
This might help
Another tip is to use the tab key,Im not sure if your aware of this but
if you type in consol, for example,g_ then hit the tab key,it will list
all the commands available to you.The variables are b_ g_ sv_ cl_ cg_
match_ team_.
b_ you may find useful as it has ET-Pro specific settings.

God I love that avatar :]
Dont think CB and/or any leagues allow for spectators. Closest youll get is: 5v5 players. 1/2 admin(s). 1 shoutcaster/gtv or 1 shoutcaster + 1 gtv peep. And while on the subject, anyone tried the following?
[/quote]
The shoutcaster for a recent ET Nations cup game tried to Gamecast it as well, and basically it didn’t work. I understand others have got it to work, but I’ve never yet managed to actually watch a Game-casted game. It’s a good idea, but I think it rather relies on the caster to have a decent upload AND someone with a fast FTP/web server to provide the download.
Ahh right. So it just sends the demo as its recorded to somewhere, which is dled and played back insantanious or whatever? Good idea, but I can see what you mean with needing a decent dl and upload. Up aint so bad I guess but imagine the load on a dl server if there was say 300/500 players speccing.
That’s exactly what it does, but too many clients, or too slow a web-server, and the client plays back the demo quicker than it downloads and runs past the end, at which point it all falls over. And this was happening during the ET Nations Cup with only a dozen or so clients!
The other thing is there’s no interaction between spectators as there is with WTV, so it’s not quite the same experience anyway. We can but hope that Bani gets the engine code he needs from ID/Activision to make proper ET-TV.
but, you pros dont know anything about /specinvite?
and btw about the spectator questions, if both teams agree to have specs on its okay (and speclock on offcourse…).
?
Regardless of Speclock on or off, the majority of leagues (for example; Clanbase and Savage (Only know of rtcw.no but they only let the 2 playing clan members spec and within a reasonable number)) do NOT allow spectators. Check there websites below and look at there rules?

Dude i just said if both teams agree, and they agree a lot of the times when specs are on. But this is not a discussion about cb rules, cause you could use specinvite in friendly’s too. O and with pros i mean pro’s (professionals).
so…
