Reduce Lag on Wireless Laptop

Hey guys. I’ve just installed ET onto my new wireless laptop, but have been having problems with lag and high ping.

Everytime I connect to a server that appears to have a low 80 or 90 ping, i have around 200-400 ping. I’ve already changed the maxpackets to 100 and the rate to 25000. Also, my signal strength to my wireless connection is excellent (99%). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Do I need to lower the texture quality? What about resolution? Should I install .6b? At times, when I would get lucky and my ping would drop to the low 100s, my fps seemed to be fine.

Ping has nothing to so with Graphics settings

I Recommend Cl_maxpackets 30, Rate 25000 and fps 76.

Update Punkbuster May Help

I would Recommend to visit “http://www.pingtest.net/” and test your Ping, so see if your broadband is the Culprit.

Packet Loss: Failed (that could be the problem lol)
Ping: 15 ms
Jitter: 2 ms

Grade: B

Do you know of a way to fix packet loss issues?

Your gfx card is slow.
A GeForce 9400M is faster then your card according to some benchmark.
Try lowering resolution, try fixing in BIOS or anywhere in gfx driver setting, the amount of RAM your gfx card may use.
I doubt its your wirelss causing that lag, wireless will add lag - but not that much.

get a cat5 cable and plug it into the router when you play

In NVidia control panel disable Thread Optimization for ET and VSynce turned on Force OFF. It removed the spikes on my 7, also a laptop, and I play through WiFi.
