I’m just reading the usual “insert new mercs name” talk about how he/she is OP.
No. Definitely not OP goggles. first of all they don’t last that long. Second, one still doesn’t see through walls. Third and most important: people need to lose the habit of ignoring the “detected” warning which we all got thanks to that “where the hell is it” Vassili detector.
Since Redeye is out I’ve only been killed 2 or 3 times through a smoke, clutter, you name it. Why not more? Because I started to pay attention to the detected warning. Anyone seen bz Redeye will receive that warning and it’s easy to think and chose a covered path and move away. Besides, not just Redeye benefits from it. Although only he can see through the smoke, his teammates will still see a big red diamond to shoot at.

I think he’s balanced. Point.
So all I have to do is look at you when you are going to complete objectives and you will hide? I feel sorry for your team
I hope you’re joking or just haven’t met me in-game yet. I’m usually mvp and always doing what my merc is supposed to do. If I’m playing Proxy, you can be sure I’ll be on the objective all the time and most likely amongst the top fraggers.
Now if you misunderstood me read again: never did I write hide. This game is full of second pathways and the fact that you jumped to the hiding conclusion instead of the more obvious circumventing one shows that you most likely haven’t played this game long.
I’ve been seeing so many Redeye backs that I don’t really know how he looks from the front. Vassili stays back against the wall as a pure sniper. Redeye has his exposed and most of the time won’t see you coming. Moving is the key and hiding doesn’t involve moving but rather staying still.
Spotting totally doesn’t help with the objective. Smoke totally doesn’t shut people’s brains down or obscure their vision long enough for allies to be covered planting c4, repairing, etc or anything.
Yea he has some abilities that are kidden cool, but

i like that some people think redeye good so they will play him. He’s another weak damage output, nonobjective, non ammo, non health, slow merc that is one of easiest mercs to beat in this game. I hope lots of people play him, makes this game even easier than it already is.
Redeye overall is a less benefit for his team versus choosing a different merc. The smoke blocks your teams vision as much as the enemies (which is annoying), you can see through it pretty well once you are inside the smoke anyway and it doesn’t last very long. At close range smg, shotguns, frags, stickies, nades make quick work of redeye hiding in his smoke. The few places smoke can be a tactical advantage doesn’t make up for his low damage output, low speed, avg health, no ammo, no health/revives, slow objective, creating an overall negative impact to team dynamics. If redeye was as good as the other mercs, there would be a group of people claiming he is OP (normal distribution around balanced), the fact there is not should tell you something. Some people are making excuses that he only sucks because he is a high skill cap merc, but in reality anyone who can dominate with redeye, can dominate even more with any other merc. Redeye has 3 of the overall worst primary weapons in the game, If the dreiss wasn’t so nerfed then he would have been more balanced.

Wait…what? That’s for THERMAL googles. /Facepalm
IR = Infra Red aka the wavelength we humans register as heat.
To be really pedantic night vision googles (and the IR diode in your remote) doesn’t use IR but the wavelength between IR and what you can see.
However things that generate visible light and heat (like fire or lightbulbs) will emitt at those wavelength aswell and would appear as bright glowing spots in the vision.
And while we are at it, thermal vision doesn’t let you see trough walls (unless the wall doesn’t block IR at all, which is the exact opposite what walls are made for).

“What is worse than being ignorant ? Being ignorant and oblivious !”
How to frak do you think thermal goggles work ?
Why people cant take a look to at least Wikipedia be4 they write an utter nonsense.
@Gi.Am Arent infrared starting right after visible spectrum ? What waveleght in between ?
@Dirmagnos Yeah you are right IR starts right after visible by definition.
But its a fairly large band. I was more refering to what is usually called IR, like the IR diodes in remotes and what ccd sensors still pick up. Quite often this is used in the cheaper nightvision, lowlight imaging systems. They basically use wavelength that are allready IR, but are limited to wavelengths, very close to the visible spectrum (near infrared) and usually not considered heat radiation yet, since our bodies don’t pick them up as such.
