How could anyone not know that, when it was CLEARLY mentioned in the roll call video?
Not everyone who plays the game is going to bother watching every video that gets released for it, though. Wouldn’t surprise me at all if some think it just behaves like smoke in other games.
RedEye's IR Goggles are too strong.
And like I said, it doesn’t matter. A Nader might well assume there are targets (myself included) inside the cloud, especially when I deploy it on an objective (such as repairing the EV etc) and spam nades at it. Or a Fragger with his power nades. Or Skyhammer, or Kira etc etc. Anyone with an AoE will weigh the odds, especially close to a vehicle (or just look at the repair bar) and fire it out, in which case, they getting head slotted.
I can see thought both the smoke, AND those explosions, to calmly shoot whichever target to death. It is too easy.

The problem isn’t that RedEye can see them too easily, just that people are making themselves easy targets.
Everytime a new mercenary comes out, people will cry about it. Personally, I’ve played against a few Redeyes and besides his gun being pretty strong, I didn’t find anything blatantly OP about him.
But… With that being said, we’ve seen the way the devs work with this game. Have enough people moan and cry about it and you’ll have your nerf.

Have you used IR goggles yet? It is remarkably easy to spot a target, even if all he has is his head poking out (and he can’t see you when you are obscured), and if you have enough experience at this game, their sillouette is enough to identify their class, even when they are completely white.
Granted, some of those classes can fire their AoE and pop back behind cover, but if I am astute, I can at least kill them after they deploy their booms.
Anyway, I am done with my reasoning, yes it is early days, and I have only encountered 2 others playing RedEye, so we will have to see what the grand opinion is when he is really rattling cages.
But like I said, from my point of view from playing his this afternoon, he is very powerful.

Yes, I’ve used him. Yes, he’s good at spotting mercs for the 10 seconds you can actually use the IR- what I’m saying is, that doesn’t make him too strong. It puts it on the opposing team to know that he’s there and act appropriately, without expecting whatever explosive mess is going on to provide you with any cover.
So we’ll gettin a nerf on the PDP for Vassili, a nerf on the Dreiss and a nerf to all throwable objects now because Red-Eye? Oh and a nerf to graphical effects because Red-Eye can see through them.
Can’t fps/comp configs disable airstrike clutter already?
Or was that clamped?
I don’t if you got any replies, but yes. This is what triggered a lot of custom configs to no longer work. Clamps hit particle affects and broke many of them. Also the killallparticles command was disabled, as you could just disappear any smoke grenades in the game on use.

That would depend. Like I said, I encountered a few tonight, some of them were good, some were bad. Some of the people I killed as Redeye were good, others were bad.
As with your phantom-syndrome, is doesn’t really matter what any one individual thinks, it will depend on the majority. Give it time with Redeye, my opinion (and I am just one guy, not the majority that wanted Phantom nerfed or wrote all of those reviews), I think he will be a major source of complaints, he is very strong.
I hope you understand this yes?
Phantom was a major source of complaints due to his lack of counter play.
Given his weapons, there’s plenty of that, you can get rid of the smoke easily, you know when you’ve been spotted, and his weapons are predominantly mid to long range.
What’s the adress of the app i can download to get the most pro-player in the world my 2nd-grade-teacher just told me about?
And talking about Redeye, yes he has got some strengths and some weaknesses. And beeing blind is not wrong, this time, even if there seems to be another highly discusses app to counter it…
Redeye should be blinded himself for a few seconds when looking at sources of intense heat with ir, like arty- or air- strikes.
Hm haven’t even noticed that one yet. But yeah while I think his eyepatch is fine general speaking, noone should be able to see through explosions.
And with IR, it can be justified even from an immersion standpoint, that they shouldn’t work through big walls of flames.
Now if they changed the explosive FX to more realistic dust clouds, instead of the hollywood style gasoline fireballs, things would look different (both literally and figurative speaking
).
i like that some people think redeye good so they will play him. He’s another weak damage output, nonobjective, non ammo, non health, slow merc that is one of easiest mercs to beat in this game. I hope lots of people play him, makes this game even easier than it already is.
@MTLMortis EXACTLY! some people just dont get what to do! when i see smoke cloud or if im detected, i move away IMMEDIATELY. i often try to find the HB sensor, but when i cant i just move away. As for turrets, some people dont get the concept of getting rid of turrets that are wrecking the team like mad. As soon as i die by a turret, its my priority to get rid of it.
Spotting totally doesn’t help with the objective. Smoke totally doesn’t shut people’s brains down or obscure their vision long enough for allies to be covered planting c4, repairing, etc or anything.
Smoke got bugs. Some time it go cartoon style blacK/white and you can clearly see.
