Redeye's eye should emit a red light while using IR goggles

Usually works for me.
plus if the red eye use Kukri there is 80% chance you win the duel.

Doesn’t seem to happen when I’m using it, course I use the Kukri because it’s probably the funniest weapon in the game.

Mostly because the Redeye expects you to retreat when you see smoke half the time.
Expect the unexpected old man sniper.
You can see where he is firing from but it’s pretty hard to easily counter when you are facing a competent one. Redeye is banned in almost every competitive event that allows bans if a team has a competent Redeye. He flat out denies whole areas and is extremely hard to counter without running a Redeye yourself. I know people have their opinions and most of it is based on pub use where there are very few competent Redeye players. But in 5v5 competition he can lock down whole areas pretty easily per spawn wave and due to crossfire setups it can be pretty hard to counter. This makes him one of the most frustrating mercs to play against and he can do it from both sides.

Due to this he is banned pretty often.
