@Vulcan too bad the M14 had nowhere near the recoil or damage, and a faster sps
Red Eye First impressions thread.
I tried him yesterday. He’s hard to play, pretty oddjob, with a high skillcap for sure. I feel like the Smoke’s CD is a tad bit too long, and I also feel like the IR Googles do not have enough duration to cover plainly the smoke’s duration. Pressing the googles button once directly pumps two seconds, and the smoke screen lasts ten seconds. Also it feels like I can’t stop using IR Google early (I tried to stop using them by pressing E again : didn’t worked), is it a bug or is it intended ? It would be nice if I could cancel the IR Googles more early to save CD and have a normal vision, I can’t see who shoots at me when the IR Googles are activated. I don’t know if I am the only one.
I think he can be very good if played well, but I am a bit worried about the smoke being very easly countered. If it’s not done by ultra low configs, the big amount of explosive user mercs make really short work of the smoke. Add to this enemy Rhino that can spray his minigun through the smoke andn sort of negate it.
A badly used smoke grenade can also be extremely painful for your own team : you though a bad Vassili is already extremely painful by wasting as player slot ? A bad RedEye could smoke your whole team at the worst moment ever and ruin your whole game. A good RedEye would be awesome, a bad RedEye would be extremely dangerous. If you play him, there’s a sort of damocles sword flying above you : will you make the things go way better or litterally screw your whole team to oblivion ?
Would it make him overpowered to have two smoke grenades instead of one (maybe at a price of more CD) ? I would love it, as it would make him even more versatile, but I am probably asking for too much.

I think one is enough since there’s always the possibility there are two Red Eyes in the same team.
I thought playing with Red Eye at first since he probably would fit to my usual playing style (tactical support kind of) but don’t want to waste credits or cash to buy him before I have tried him free.
[quote=“RadicalMac;61600”]Well for starters… I highly dislike the Grandeur SR. With the recoil/dmg/spread on the G SR, compared to the Dreiss in accuracy + damage… The Dreiss just trumps it at this point. I’ve played 2 back to back games with RedEye using the Dreiss vs. the Grandeur, and honestly I’m starting to regret purchasing RedEye just a bit since Kira/Arty can offer a bit more with the Dreiss AR, though I will admit I know there will eventually be some balancing/buff/nerfing (hopefully buffing…) for the Grandeur. Though, as it stands, I dislike the Grandeur.
Also this is the opening you get when you prefer the Dreiss AR…
And this is the trade up you get when you prefer the Dreiss AR…

Wait wtf, I had my own full discussion thread with this? why was it placed in someone else’s discussion? @MissMurder @Ardez @Amerika
every time a throw a smoke i have to look around to make sure it isn’t blocking my allies sight lines. I feel as though the smoke bombs are balanced as they effect both sides almost equally and have lots of counter play but they feel a bit… awkward (i don’t have a better word) in such a fast paced game. The only real use i have for it right now is to smoke my general area and turn on my IR so i can get a kill or two without much return fire or to cover a bomb plant, both of which slow the game down because vision. Vision is everything.

Probably because there were a number of threads about the same topic and they were merged. Merges happen a lot when people make new threads on topics that already exist.
I’ve found that for IR, enemies are a much more brilliant white than friendlies, and that if you chuck a smoke down and after it goes off you go into IR, the IR ends about the same time as the smoke clears (unless someone blows the smoke away of course) I’ve also found that if my team is getting torn up by mounted mg fire or something similar, I’ll chuck a smoke at my teammates position, and then just tag all the enemies I can see, so they won’t get killed as easily.
