As expected this week is going to have servers full of Red Eye players and the new mechanics is going to introduce plenty of rage. Vent it here just constructive.

My Red Eye impressions so far:

I’m extremely disappointed with Grandeur SR (M14’s knock off) loadouts.

I feel like I am going to hate redeye purely because I have a crappy potato laptop meaning that I cannot ever use semi-auto weapons (EVER) and the smoke grenades are just going to set my computer alight and drop me down to 9fps like in CS:GO

SMOKE EVERYWHERE. Enjoying him so far, but likely just the “newness” of it. I don’t know that I like him enough to use long term. I’m not a huge fan of the reduced firing rate of the dreiss either, it’s more noticeable than I expected. Not that this means it wasn’t “the right thing” to do, jury is still out on that one.

If you look at the available bronze loadouts with Grandeur as the main gun I’m not a fan of those perks: Bomb Squad, Pineapple Juggler, Untrackable, Try Hard, Quick Slash etc. I wouldn’t mind few more useful perks or working in general.

If you look at the available bronze loadouts with Grandeur as the main gun I’m not a fan of those perks: Bomb Squad, Pineapple Juggler, Untrackable, Try Hard, Quick Slash etc. I wouldn’t mind few more useful perks or working in general.

Bomb Squad is ok for him,Pineapple not,Untrackable yes,Quick slash also yes(since kukri is slow but heavy power knife).

Just rethink strategies for each of them

I think G75 is the best you’ll get there, none of the augments overall are very lucrative outside of Quick Draw. The D75 however is pretty snazzy.

Same here on the Dreiss front haven’t tested it sofar but they basically reversed it to the stresstest stats.

As for Redeye, my first impressions I love him.
Spam will be less annoying than phantom, simply because Redeyes keep themself busy.
They counter each others quite nicely. See smoke use IR to give your team back the vision. See Redeye midrange sniping? let the midrange sniping duell begin.

Smoke is great not too OP and nice to lay down some cover to help move the EV past a sniper. Haven’t seen explosive countering it yet so can’t comment.
The IR goggles on their own are very usefull aswell. They have a slight spotting delay and seem to struggle marking targets, when they are half conceiled behind cover. But its great, see an enemy flanking? Hit IR to give your team heads up, I like.

One thing to notice only time they get disabled seems to be if you hit the full cooldown. So even if it shows some cooldown, you can activate them for another short peak/snitch.

Weapons, only default loadout.
Grandeur, I suck with it. It starts to loose accuracy similar to the Dreiss, after shot 3 it seemed.
But when you finally land those shots it is very satisfying (even if its only bodyshots).

Lastly the khukri, first impression it rocks.
It has a different swing pattern compared to the knifes. And I managed hit with the heavy swing, that would have been misses, otherwise. The damage is there, haven’t checked what it deals, but one heavy swing was enough (could be wounded tho).

Only thing is and this will propably piss off quite a few. The fast swing has zero reach. I mean zero, you can’t finish someone standing. You gotta kneel and aim carefully, because the range is so short, you can even miss kneeling. Heavy swing has more reach tho, so finishing with heavy is an option.

So thats my first impression for now. Not even gonna give a OP/UP guess, just gonna enjoy him for now.

Second first impressions: I hate my teammates they keep smoking stupid push points and getting the rest of us killed, they never smoke objectives though.

I think it’s fairly balanced, much more so than when the phantom was released… doesn’t seem op/up but a few tweaks here and there and it should be fine. was expecting the smoke grenades radius to be larger though. Weapons seem decent, the Semi is deadly if your accuracy is good, you can even manage to survive CQC with it surprisingly.

My first impressions: smoke is not very useful, just annoying. Goggles are cool, but short lived. You also can’t see whether you’re looking through smoke or not. Sometimes you think they can’t see you, but they do.

Grandeur seems OK, Kukri is cool.

Best part of Redeye is his detection skill. I noticed that other mercs can see the detected enemies too. That’s really helpful. But I don’t know when this activates, upon goggles?

The kukri has a really weird swing pattern, when i get close to a wall and swing, i sometimes hit the wall 4 centimeters from my crosshair. slashing with it is good, but the heavy attack feels too awkward to use due to the melee slow/turn limiter and the weird swing pattern.

I love him.

I wish the smoke was easier to see in IR, and that teammates and enemies were easier to distinguish. The only difference between them is their nameplate.

The SR is amazing, Headshots feel sooooo goooood.

You know I See that thrown around a lot but I’m actually not having trouble seeing the smoke in IR o_o it’s a pretty clear black outlined cloud imo.

Imho he’s balanced.

Smoke: i love this skill, it’s definately not OP and it’s quite versatile, i was out of ammo earlier and used smoke offensively, i went in with pistol and kukri. Also used smoke on the EV while my teammates repaired, then gave cover to them by harrassing the enemy Redeyes.

His new gun: It’s ok, i think atm in this game the smg’s reign supreme, they’re very easy to use and at all ranges (even at long range they’re crazy accurate).

Kukri: Good looking weapon, the heavy attack has an original animation.

I really like him, he reminds me so much of my BFBC2 playstyle it’s just crazy. I tolerate his rifle, I’ll probably get used to it eventually, but it does some nice damage. I did not use a loadout with his kukri so I don’t know how that works (traded up for get a basic iron card with his new rifle). Smoke grenade is all kinds of useful, confuses people so much lol. IR goggles are great for spotting enemies even if not using smoke grenades. IDK what I’ll do when they release Stoker, because I quite enjoy having Redeye in my merc rotation.

A tip: You can easily disperse the smoke with a sticky grenade.
