I approve.

I am still waiting for sticky smoke grenade. Gotta get my Fletcher 2.
I am still waiting for sticky smoke grenade. Gotta get my Fletcher 2.
Honestly they should just remove Fragger and Thunder and make them loadouts for Fletcher. Actually just remove all the mercs. Fletcher Bomb.

Then we can change the game name to “Dirty Fletcher”… oh wait.

Granduer has really good poor. But boy oh boy, is that power balanced out by some huge spread even after one shot. ADS helps a ton with this gun if you shoot quickly. Otherwise controlled and patient clicks are your friend.

(KayDubz) #26

Seeing as Redeye’s infrared cooldown is 10 seconds, and his smoke bombs are 30 seconds (only giving 10 seconds of smoke btw)…I find myself using the infrared more defensively than offensively. Infrared is much more available than smoke is…and when smokes not available, I feel Im less able to go on absolute offense mode.

10 seconds is a fair amount of time for the smoke to be in the air…but I think the cool down should be 20 seconds…especially when infrared is 10 sec cooldown.

I find myself using infrared much like you do in Blacklight Retribution. While it cant see through walls, its good at picking up phantom, and good at spotting other mercs slightly peeking out of cover.

Thoughts?

I’m loving Red so far.

Right off the bat, he seems like a strongly defined, useful and balanced merc. I’m not seeing any immediate problems, balance-wise.

Weapons wise, I’m actually really enjoying the Grandeur. Up close, it packs enough punch and remains accurate long enough that you have a fighting chance against people trying to rush you. At range, it performs as expected. The main challenge I’ve had so far is how little ammo it gets ( . . . and teammates not wanting to hand out extra ).

Smoke grenades are fantastic. I have nothing further to say about those.

His spotting seems pretty balanced, too, just by virtue of its design. It gets quite bright when you’re using it, so anything that isn’t an enemy becomes less distinct. Which seems like a good trade-off. I will say, though, that the spotting ability is a bit picky about when it actually marks enemies. I’m not sure what causes that.

All in all, I haven’t had this much fun with a merc since Kira first came out.

more op than phantom ever was

What are you smoking my friend?

(SaulWolfden) #32

I personally don’t have a major problem with the Grandeur, I’m just not used to it. Up to people’s personal preferences on what they prefer weapon wise on him, but since I see him as a cqc sniper, I think it is the most fitting of the weapons he has. I quite enjoy how he can use the smoke grenades to the team’s advantage as well as use IR goggles to help spot enemies. I feel your pain with getting a weapon you don’t want… I traded up for a silver Sawbonez and got the SMG-9… which I had gotten trading up for a bronze and a silver too today lol.

Edit: I also got two loadouts from cases that contained a SMG-9 for Fletcher and Sawbonez too.

@SaulWolfden lol I love every concept of RedEye all but his main rifle. That’s my only irk.

(Yak) #34

I personally enjoy the SR, it feels powerful and I can pop heads across the map with it. Sure, spamming it will cause it to shoot everywhere, but just time your shots and don’t get agitated when you take damage in CQC.

I don’t know why, but all the Red Eyes I’ve seen so far are all quite laughably at the bottom of the scoreboard. He seems pretty balanced but his :not:M14 is rather funny without a scope as you want to use it as a battle rifle and not a sniper. Perhaps it could get a nice 2x scope (with peripheral vision unlike regular sniper scopes) so it feels a bit more effective at medium range.

If I could make one change to him, it’d be to add a 2 second spread time to the smoke grenade (it would still last the 10 seconds later) so a good player can orient themselves to counter a bit easier.

Redeye has a decent skill ceiling, I’ve seen Redeyes (including myself) all over the scoreboard. I was on the bottom in my earlier matches and I was near the top with another Redeye played in a later match.

My only problem I see in the Gandeur is the time it takes to become 100% accurate again after the first shot, it’s like the Desert Eagle in CS:GO. It takes about a second or two before it can be shot with the utmost accuracy (bullet aligned perf w/ the crosshair.) again.

(affableTricycle) #38

Which is better, the M14 or the Dreiss?

From what I’ve heard, the Dreiss is better, but I want to believe that the M14 could be good.

The difference between them is rather similar to Kek and Crotzni. The kek/Dreiss are more accurate and will win the fight faster if you hit body shots, but the Crotzni/SR do more damage and win much faster with headshots.

It’s all up to personal taste really.

He seems so good as to be a must have to replace Vassili in Dirty Cup matches if only to counter himself. Instant gibs aren’t as good as visual cover and aggressive sniper play.
