Red "DO NOT SHOOT" sign on disguised teammates doe

It’s more realistic for it to take a few seconds until you recognise a teammate. It requires you to know just what your teammates are doing and where they are.

Don’t they appear in the map as a teammate anyway? So check the compass and the map and if they’re a friendly, don’t shoot.

Maybe if the Covops has made a radio communication, say from G4, then if you target him in G4 then the red circle comes up instantly, because knowing his location(via the voice chat) makes it easier to tell that he’s a friendly. However, when he leaves the grid, he’ll have to make another communication. Probably best if there’s a new voice chat for this purpose…or maybe ‘hold your fire’ will do

Oooh no, this would result in a million covert ops messages flooding into the radio. The radio has been ruined by the automatic medic messages as it is, the last thing it needs is every COps in the map trying to keep his position updated.

IMO, ‘realism’ is not a good argument. Gameplay is what matters. The gameplay effect of not being able to quickly identify your covert ops is

  1. you hurt/tk them
  2. you hesitate when you see an enemy.
Given the situation with complaints, 1) is not a good thing. 2) doesn’t strike me as a good thing in a game that is largely about reflexes either.

There is so much that is unrealistic and fun about the game already, I don’t think there is any reason to strive for realism on this point. It may be that there IS a gameplay argument for leaving it the way it is…

Myself, I like pippis suggestion of enlarging the area where the icon shows up.

if only there was some sort of reverse damage for shooting teammates… i mean one retarded player shot my multiple times over the span of 10 seconds to the point of killing me.

For me anything that makes the game more difficult and intense is wellcome.
I find the CO class as added great team play and communication to ET and as given the game a boost, not to mention a great new way for both sides to begin an early attack, it should be left as it is IMO its totally acceptable that there is an half a second delay on the red circle showing up.
I think the name Enemy Territory really is appropriate when we are discussing the CO class,if you decide to hang around the front line expect to be TKed as the CO’s are supposed to be in the enemy’s territory in a reconnaissance style of play, because the CO is so potentialy a match winner it seems only right he needs all the dis-advantages he gets at this moment,LEAVE IT JUST AS IT IS!!!

This can be only heard by someone who is closer by or as got the view of the Covert-Op in their view.
