The hit detection can be worked around if the characters remain within a limited frame. When you put your sights on a target and start shooting it makes no difference if their thin or fat, your going to aim at a specific body target and fire your bullets are not gonna fly over just because a player is thinner than another.
Unless you have terrible aiming skills and expect your bullets to be magnets to your target.
there hasn’t been one compelling arguement for female characters in this thread, just one person wanting to play with tits on their character declaring “but I want to”. You want to pretend to be a girl, just call yourself Alice and job done.
You are simply assuming no females will play this game.
And if you knew they would, I bet that would still not be enough reason for you.
Also, the whole ‘the female models will be smaller, harder to hit, boobs sticking out ect’.
I’m sorry but…WTF? O_o
I can easily picture female models almost equivalent to the males!
It’s funny yet baffeling that people bring real life proportions into this…
even more so when you look at the male models lol
Again how is it any different from picking a light body type over a heavy body type, they are smaller than the heavy body type thus harder to hit so many people would choose the light body type for this aspect alone no?

Why would it matter what gender plays the game? Females are allowed to play with male chars you know. The reasons for not including them have been answered by SD, and it has nothing to do with what gender will be playing this game… in fact i don’t think one person mentioned that females won’t play this game… holy fabrication batman/girl!
People are saying that women are very thin. Yeah some are. But there are a lot of women who has little fat but still has fairly big bodytype, so that doesn’t make any sense. You wouldn’t send a small girl with model’s body into war, would you? You’d send those bigger badass women in there.
Also big tits would not be very logical either, why? Because they are quite restrictive. Especially for the parkour aspect. Not realistic.
I would be ok with female characters, if they weren’t too thin and didn’t have big boobs. And there would be only badass costumes. No for hello kitty.
What amazes me of some of these replies is that they want to conjure up any sort of excuse for females not being in a fictional video game, whether its based on real life or some other macho BS.
I seriously can’t understand why some of you can’t grasp a different opinion about this subject, we have been playing males in games by force pretty much since gaming began, when we ask for a game to reconsider having females you get all in arms and throw out excuses to not have them. Why?
Do you really want every game to have male characters only? And if suddenly a female appears why must there be a justification for it to be in the game? its a game, they don’t need to create one to have them.
And even though a lot of you are opposed to it, you can’t deny that having females in video games is not the norm, rather the exception.
You were already warned to drop the personal attacks on others, this is not the thread for them.
The compelling argument for female characters in Brink is the following, more choices for players.
I already stated this earlier, if you or others don’t care about what your character looks like since your looking down a barrel of a gun then character customization for males shouldn’t be included either.
Also, it seems to me based on the poll above that a great % of people do want female characters in the game, regardless of the ultimate decision of SD.

Ah, but you’re mistaken, I know for a fact that women will play this game. Two women from my LAN group have already put up the cash for our first Brink outing, they’re anticipating this game as much if not more than the rest of us. AS i’ve said numerous times, I just don’t see the need to expend resources for what is a purely aesthetic proponent. If you really need to channel your inner “Lara Croft” maybe Blackshot is more up your alley, so to speak.
For god sake, please SD, Please include some woman in Brink so this thread can come to an end. If not, just make a statement that no woman will be included at this time, mabye down the road as DLC or Brink 2.
I bet you, you or others in this thread opposed to it would be asking for male characters if you were forced to play as females in 90% of all video games. But then if you did ask that I wouldn’t be opposed to it, because I believe in player’s choices.
Oh and heres an interesting article if you guys don’t mind reading for a couple of minutes.
And yes be included as DLC would be a lot better, Brink 2 is too far off

9 times out of 10, women in video games have perfect proportions. They wouldn’t look average, or have a little fat on them. They would be Playboy Playmates crossed with personal trainers. At least the Light and Medium body’s will.
SPC, I don’t opposed to some female character being in the game. However, SD clearly stated they’ve dedicate the time to other things. Like I stated before, in games like SOF2, I’ve used female character as my character but it didn’t make a difference to me if it was male or female. Plus, right now it is not that important in the game as many other factor. You already voice your opinion about wanting it, I’m sure if SD have the time they will squeeze it in or add it to one of their DLC content.
PS: The article does not refer to a genre like fps. It is just generic. Plus the author seem to turn it into some sort of racist issue.
I consider many games realistic, even if they’re fictional. Filling a battlefield with barbarellas however is fantasy.

Are you saying that the entire US army and SAS consisting of female soldiers in COD wouldn’t be weird?
And then that horrible article with that outdated look of what video games are supposed to be. The writer probably still thinks that all video games are about singleplayer story with a ‘main character’.
I don’t believe in player’s choices, I believe in developer’s choices and judgement of how they spent their resources and what makes a good game. They don’t need to listen to feminists on a crusade to make a game that will both be liked by men and women.
That’s another thing. They always need to look like charicatural sex bombs, even if you let players customise them then they’ll all turn them in their own perverted pubescent fantasy woman.
Angseth there seems to be this feeling that you think those that don’t deem it necessary don’t actually want it, this isn’t true. As i’ve said before, it’s a ‘nice thing to have’ feature, but not necessary… and definitely not at the expense of more important development. If there were female skins, no one here would be lobbying to have them removed. You’ve said your thoughts (over and over tbh) and you’ve heard the reasons why they aren’t included. I think SD get the point that you ‘really’ want them in the game, that was your goal to be heard, now they know… everything from now is just pointless banter with more rinse and repeat.
it would be nice with female chars since it creates even more diversity to the characters you meet when playing online and it opens up for more female players so it widens the market for Brink

Alrighty then, I like your post.
I don’t think I have an inner Lara
It’s really not that I must play a female model, I usually prefer to play malemodels.
No female models sometimes just feels a little like being ‘left out’ …again.
Maybe Unacknowledged is the right word? I don’t know but that’s all.
I will play my skinny dude and be happy no matter what :stroggbanana:
