Reconsider Female Characters!

(H0RSE) #121

If they do make females, I think doing it as DLC, or included in a patch is the best way to do it. This way they can focus just on options for males in the game, and add all the female stuff separately, without having to share initial game resources.

(Pegazus) #122

I would like to see female characters in Brink.
On the other hand I can’t imagine myself shooting at a women character, even if it is just a game. That’s just me.

Also if we get more customizes without female characters then i’d take it. Having a more unique character from others is a big plus.

(ThunderWank) #123

Well if they included females might as well add transgender as an option as well.
Male body with female mo-cap and customization options.

(SPC. Angseth) #124

That seems reasonable, and in the interview I watched they mentioned that, that they could be added as DLC although I find it kind of unlikely to happen.

Would be nice to get a surprise though.

The thing that looks promising about this character creator, is that it looks like it will cater to a wide array of styles. Whether you want a biker or metal head look, something more urban or flashy, or even something more ‘Mad Max’ looking or a traditional soldier, It looks like it cover a wide range of styles for a wide range of players. This is something that I am really looking forward to seeing in action. If having this abundance of options is compromised by adding in female characters, I say leave them out. I think a big reason players would use female characters is because females are thinner, thus harder to hit. In my eyes, they would be abusing the system. Choosing something for a purely competitive advantage, and nothing else.

How is that any different from picking the light body type to be more agile and the heavy class to have more strength…

(ThunderWank) #127

Because you can’t get a nut shoton a female.

(an1ta) #128

I’d love that.

It would be smaller so it is harder to hit, just like the green guy in CS, so everyone that knows about it picks females.
Then if you stand too close to a wall your boobs might stick out of the other side of the wall… or the hair…

I can see how cool it would be to have female models in SP but in MP it might just be annoying.

(H0RSE) #129

I was talking about females being even thinner than the thinnest male, resulting in people playing females, not because they enjoy playing females or because the character reflects who they are, but just for a competitive edge. I will be playing Heavy not because I am trying to ‘pwn’ on the battlefield, but because I generally like big characters, whether it’s in books, movies, or whatever. I may switch to light or normal, if it absolutely calls for it.

(tokamak) #130

Simple just don’t make female thinner than males and give them exactly the same body types.

(SPC. Angseth) #131

Huh?

Females and males can be thin or fat it makes no difference, however due to body fat distribution, it may seem different.

There are men who are thinner than a lot of women and vice verse.

The hit detection in Saints Row 2 for example, where you can customize your character to be really skinny or really fat doesn’t change Im not sure how they handle that but firing at a fat or thin character is the same.

So really, if Brink allows characters to be slim, normal and heavy that wouldn’t change anything when it comes to females, they wouldn’t have the upper hand, unless SD makes it out to be like that.

The devs already said Heavy characters are easier to hit, since they have larger hitboxes.

I’m sure when you choose your body type in the game, you pick Light, Medium, or Heavy, and each one is represented by a standard model, or something similar to this. What I was saying is that if they had females, there is a chance that if you chose a Light Female body type, the model would be thinner than the male Light body type, since women are typically smaller than men, (especially videogame women, where their proportions are perfect) resulting in smaller hitboxes.

I honestly don’t think it will make a difference. Unless you think spawning as a guy with a backpack in CoD puts you at a disadvantage…

(H0RSE) #134

If the backpack increases hit detection, then it would. In the case of Brink, Heavy (bigger) body types are easier to hit.

(ThunderWank) #135

Well obviously a Heavy is going to be bigger then a light but that’s not what we’re talking about is it now? The subject at hand was wether or not a female light would be smaller then a male light…and my sarasm obviously went over your head so I’ll explain civily. I’m sure there would not be hit detection differences between the genders of a specific body type and if there was it be so minimal it would not a make a difference in gameplay.

(Yeti94) #136

they could just make the hit boxes the same size as the male ones. I doubt that anyone would notice

(H0RSE) #137

Yes, I know they could, I was just saying that there was a chance that the hitboxes would be smaller, and if they were, many people would choose females for this aspect alone. And that would bug me. It’s like working a job you hate just because the pay is good.

(tokamak) #138

It’s understandable, I wouldn’t like 3 more slightly different bodytypes like that.

(SPC. Angseth) #139

The hit detection can be worked around if the characters remain within a limited frame. When you put your sights on a target and start shooting it makes no difference if their thin or fat, your going to aim at a specific body target and fire your bullets are not gonna fly over just because a player is thinner than another.

Unless you have terrible aiming skills and expect your bullets to be magnets to your target.

(ShamWOW) #140

there is a diffrence of being thin or fat you eat more bullets from being a bigger target and less from a small target its just fact
