So is all the other customisable crap they have…
Reconsider Female Characters!
That way you can also start ragging on players who have a different skin colour than their character… Some people just like to be someone else in a game. They’ve been their selves for their whole life.
Well you totally missed the point of what I was saying…regardless how you portray your self in video games has deep psychological roots and the desire to portray your self as a woman for something other then aesthetic reasons is most likely linked to the one of the conditions I mentioned. Or a sort of penis envy, however it would be the reverse in this case. Also the fact that it’s not adding actual content isn’t a sound argument as A. some of the models and what not can be carried over with only minor tweaking and B. if you do wish to have more then one character, which many will you will be able to have access to all customization options which in turns gives you more options then if they focused soley on men. And by that logic all customization options don’t add content.
Anyway, the main valid point against female characters is that it’s not adding actual content and therefore a waste of resources.
If we exchange men for women wouldn’t you say the same thing as well? its not adding actual content and a waste of resources?
I don’t think its a waste, its giving players more options to how they will make their character during play and Im pretty sure everyone likes to customize their character when there is an option to do so.
One obvious way to do this is have sharable clothing between each gender, not all of course but a certain amount, like lets say certain types of uniforms or shoes and so on…
The poll right now is showing that there is a bigger interest in having female characters, hopefully the devs see this and take it into account, even if it won’t change their current decision.
They already did take it into account, and decided against it. We seem to be covering old ground and repeating ourselves here, it’s been confirmed there’s no females.
We had the same exact argument in ETQW as we are having now for Brink. I am personally in favor of female skins and voice packs, but it has clearly been established that there won’t be any in Brink. I will just have to accept the facts as they are and move on, as I did in ETQW.
Then I guess Brink will be another game that is the norm and not the exception when it comes to this matter.
Well there is always APB to look forward to in terms of customization.
Im still going to try Brink, specially to play as a Medic but Im seriously disappointed.
I hope this move not to include females really means we will have a ridiculous amount of customization options without having to pay for extra in DLC.
I’m pretty sure the modding community will add this later on if they get all the tools from SD.

Are you serious…?
You’re really going to let the lack of the ability to play as a female ruin a game for you…?
It’s a first person game, it’s not like you actually get to see your character so what’s the big deal?

I never said that would ruin the game for me, but it does affect me in a way sorry if that seems trivial to you. I enjoy creating characters and investing creativity and time into building them whenever Im not presented with an already established cast of characters.
Yes its a first person game, I know that, but what does that really matter? your enemies and allies still see your character even if you don’t.
In that case if it isn’t a big deal why is there even character customization at all? we could all just use generic foot soldiers as our characters in blue and red since were all looking down the barrel of a gun.
I think for some reason he maybe thinks the guilt trip will make them change their mind
Guilt of what? Im just giving my opinion thats all, the decision they took is theirs and theirs alone.
However I wanted to try showing the devs that their decision while not important to some it is for others.
If I didn’t care about the game at all I wouldn’t have posted this in the first place, don’t you think this means something?
Like I stated previously, I wasn’t expecting my thread to change anything but I could at least try to persuade them into giving it a second thought, if not in the full game through DLC, nothing wrong with trying.

Well obviously character customization is important for the end game cut scenes whuch are a large portion of the game.
What I don’t understand is your fixiation to play as a woman.
You’ve still yet to explain it with a valid reason.

Aesthetics, thats my reason. I do not enjoy to play as a steroid junkie gorilla at all, I can do that in pretty much every shooter out there. I don’t see why I have to give a valid reason for it either, its like saying you have to give a valid reason why you play as a certain NFL team in a Madden game, maybe you don’t have any reason other than you just like the team.
One of the few exceptions is the Unreal Tournament series which we discussed earlier.

They didn’t want to include females body’s because, then someone will use their Flashing skills to disorient male players and make them an easy prey
. Also, we will have girls Banned for Flashing…“Show me your boobies”… and so on…
Exactly.
And if that’s not acceptable we go back to the whole vagina envy thing…
All this for a woman character…wow…you should play Saint Row 2, you will love it. You can even show off your “va jj”. Customization of a character is just perk in “FIRST PERSON SHOOTER”. The shooting mechanism and gameplay should be a priority.
No female models feels very 1999 to me thb.
But fine, what else is new…
I am dissapointed too though, since Brink introduced custom models that suppose to
stay with you for a loooong time. Its a ‘role’ you play.
I wanted to be a kickass, meanlooking, ugly female
Some reactions are very one-sided and I wonder how things would be if SD
had decided from the start to have female models only.
I wonder how some of you guys would feel being forced to play with female models.
Ofcourse you gonna lie and say you would not care
So…I agree with SPC. Angseth.
And that’s right, nobody needs a valid reason.
Why do I have to justify/explain my preference?
I’ts also disturbing how everyone assume’s SPC. Angseth is a He.
I’m sure most of us won’t care if its a freaking male, female, or a shemale…Give me a gun and an objective and lets rock! It is only a video game. If the developer don’t feel the need to add it, then so be it. It is not necessary to make the game a bigger success. As long as the gameplay and logic works, what is the big deal behind a male or female…It is not like you’re going to use a video game to come out of the closet and hint to your parents that you swing the other way…??
