Recent Rise of Hackers

(Jostabeere) #21

No naming and shaming was discussed a lot in the last time. Mainly to defend those people who aren’t cheating and get falsely shamed on the forums.

(yenku) #22

Imho, these are not Hackers, these are just cheaters.
And a true hacker does not love attention.

These “players” are just cheaters, cheating at a video game, wow what a conquer! What an achievement.
Do they think that get at Top Score cheating will gain them respect from other players ? I doubt it. I don’t know why those kids (coz, most of them are kids, no offense intended) look out for cheats.

Is not even like Dirty Bomb is such a challenge, I mean, do you find it so hard ?
I’ll never understand what’s in cheater’s mind. Bha -.-
Please stop call them Hackers.

Just going to blatantly steal part of a post and leave it here.
This is summary vigilante justice. It’s typically the work of judgemental and emotional people - the type who get angry and then have to vent at a bunch of strangers on the internet. Worse than that, the only effect it has is to cause unpleasantness and negativity towards somebody that may or may not be guilty of an offence.

If you encounter a cheater, or any other kind of griefer for that matter, the only fair way to deal with them is to report them via official channels. Naming and shaming doesn’t combat real cheaters - these people know they are going to be hated and will either revel in the abuse or simply change their names. It’s just vigilantism, and it’s banned for the same reasons.
Let the GMs handle cheaters and meting out punishments. Naming and shaming doesn’t have any actual affect on cheaters and the forums are not a channel to contact the GMs who can actually do something about a hacker. Open a ticket and submit your evidence or more simply report them using the in game function.

Anybody can use any name they want in game. Somebody could easily change their username to that of somebody else and cheat, then change it again later. Often times this is seen as a name hack where your name rotates between the names of players on the server. If somebody stole your name during a game would you want to be advertised as a cheater all over the forums? Probably not.

Either way, we keep the forum clean of naming and shaming because nothing good will come of it. Only a spiral of negativity.

Yes, right. But those cheats are commonly referred as hacks, and thus people who’re using them the term hacker.

(FireWorks) #25

Usually the argument is “to not further promote cheats etc” to possibly interested ppl

(PorkyPerson) #26

I haven’t found a way to find people I played with on Steam. How do you find someone from Dirty Bomb on Steam?

I’m pretty sure you can make a Dirty Bomb account without Steam, anyway.

It’s a power trip. I can’t do it myself, so I’ll ruin it for everyone. It’s the video game version of a troll, and you know those are everywhere.

You can get to their profile via Scoreboard.

And Steam is mandatory for DB, the nexon launcher got scrapped a long time ago.

It mirrors due process, innocent until proven guilty. I’ve even had bad judgment on rushing to call someone a hacker in the past, and it can easily become a poor defense mechanism to excuse your own shortcomings in the game.

This generally evolves to something that resembles a witch hunt and players that stand out competitively do get falsely accused of hacking more often than you think. Just yesterday, I was told that I use wall hacks and some one else said that I must have the best audio in the game. Both of those players were not surprisingly, really bad, but they wholeheartedly believed that I was hacking.

I play a lot of DB (119 comp matches since last update) and I rarely see hackers

I’m not fully trying to discredit everyone else’s experiences but I play a lot and many here can attest to that.

I’m just more likely going to think that it’s the accuser’s hurt ego rather than an actual hack. And I’ve seen hackers before, they get dealt with rather swiftly. So quick, I really don’t understand why people here are complaining so much. Which brings me back to the hurt ego and false hackusations.

(NightingaleZ0) #30

For the record and those of you who missed it, I uploaded the video because he openly admits he is hacking and is doing so in the most obvious way possible by headshot the entire team and stands in the spawn lol. You guys also missed the part where he comes to the forums and start flaming the whole community before getting reckt by Faralith lol

(Kingsley) #31

Oh sorry but I was under the impression that the title was referring to a “recent rise”

like a significant, noticeable number
and.not.one.single.douche.

So in the original post when you say that some of them are even bold enough to advertise in the forums.

Does that “some” actually mean
one.single.douche.

or were there more violations here that i missed?
I’m confused.

(NightingaleZ0) #32

I only really gotten to video one of them but I generally do not care too much since I just switch to another game but was wondering if this is a something we are expecting more of. More or less helps to raise awareness for the issue and hell, that deleted post is like a big F**** you to all SD and all community lol. I think he raised a lot of attention for hackers in general.

(Kingsley) #33

To me, it sounds like you still want to speak with an hyperbolic tongue.

it seems like
one.single.douche

has magically become an army of hackers.
And you only have a single story of

one.single.douche

in all encounters that you point out

The only thing that you are raising awareness to is that you posted a video of a hacker, that we know might be the same guy that made the violation here. And even so, both situations sound like the same troll.

when it boils down to it, it doesn’t suggest that there is a “rise” in epidemic proportions that resembles the impression that I get from the OP/title.

I just see
one.single.douche

and not a recent “rise” in hackers.

What happens when you do not put time and effort into a title and just randomly put something down lol …

(SereneFlight) #35

Personally I would strongly suggest not to do that since there seems to be a rather high chance it being completely ignored = you just wasted your time.

(sonsofaugust5) #36

Its hilarious when you play a COMP and a party of two, one cheating, is playing. The second person just vetoes the vote and the cheater continues to play. Just happened with this guy named Aurora who’s been noted as cheating on reddit. He’s been playing for about 10 hours cheating (he said) and he admits it. Funny thing is that DB doesnt do anything.

I’ve had 4 experiences of people cheating in comp. They always play with another person so they get kicked. You’d never face them because you’re an elite operative and there account probably gets shut down before they get that far. Just played with one. I lose a lot because the other team is better skilled and coordinated than my team. I like losing more than winning honestly, means I’m playing good players.

I just heard about that match.
How recent were the other 3 experiences?
And by the way that’s the right attitude to have
It will help you get better faster than your peers
most of which would rather whine and not play ranked entirely

(XavienX) #39

Huh, I thought this hackers on the loose in big amounts was important news a couple of months ago.

(SamillWong) #40

I haven’t seen one in weeks, to be honest.
