Not in competition. Your dead guy is supposed to be running with others compadres in pre-planned path once he respawns. If seen doing smtg else, like I said, you can expect instant call on TS, and you are simply discovered. Comp plays 5on5, mainly, and they keep track of positions and such. 1 disguise out of 5 players is going to be caught really quick

i dont think anyone thinks you can get more than 20-30 secs of “safe” disguise. (on some pub matches you can get minutes if you hang at the back, but hey, that’s something else)

even in comp- during respawn timer maybe the disguise gets you by the one guy who otherwise would have noticed, plus with 5v5, there’s a bit more room on the map. yeah, a well organized team can easily shut down an op pretty quick who thinks they can run around w/ impunity, but as a tool to buy enough time to get across a gap to cover, etc. can work. situational, like most skills in brink.

in pub matches, i find sometimes it’s the bots who are more on point re: disguise (which is kinda sad, really). sneak behind, empty clip. if they spin 180 as soon as you aim…bot! if they strafe back and forth w/o turning around…human.

or better yet, why humans dont ask - why is “X” running behind that turret, that’s a little odd…hack…scatter.

i have done it in competition 5v5 against friends, and i am pretty sure we are the best players we know, mind you i have played over probably 5000 matches easy, i would hope i know what i am talking about

agreed- as stated in my post, it’s situational (and map/objective) dependent. sometimes, a useful tool, sometimes a useless distraction.

It’s why i spec’d a dual op/eng so i had a versatile char for times that op (or eng) is not useful.

Just so we’re clear the competition he is referring to is not the game setting. Also 5000 matches at an average of 20 mins is almost 70 days of playtime.

most matches have taken five minutes or less as i have bben playing with people from the SD forums try again, 5000 may have been an exaggeration but i doubt it i have played matches that lasted 2 minutes MULTIPLE TIMES

5 - Gameplay

Fairly smooth gameplay in general, it is original.
The “Aim” no-scope is fun and interest, it requires some experience but also it have a learning curve much longer than a cod. This means that by playing regularly your accuracy in aiming to increase. There are thresholds and that of a black ops is well below.

  • The smart is just automating the figures, but with a camera on his shoulder, no way to get it manual
  • Failure in the design of the automated actions such as buffed or revived. In fact the character is caught up in the box hit invisible and imposed by the program, result: significant lack of precision at this level.

6 - choice of weapons - body type

    -Scoreboard to ****, see the statistics do not serve as am very proud of. A display shows whether hit / shots is improving in its accuracy. It’s interesting if you want to progress.

8 - Optimization

"I always played in the low fps, so the annisotropie anti-aliasing and frankly I do not care. What I fool at least that’s the number of fps I get, I’ll just say that Black ops though it was poorly opti PC, showed more polished graphics and a more stable framerate, though explosions brink bcp does not count …

9 - Promises

  • The smart will be offered in two versions, automatic and manual.
  • The game will be fully customizable.

A lie quite funny.
Memory to the fall of 2009 they had claimed that the PC version was not a console port . At that point I thought there was something that was wrong, I did not know what but now I understand. If they had focused their efforts on one platform, the game would probably become what we thought it would be. A skilled and nervous fps perfectly optimized, on maps of high quality (one of the trademark).

After 200 hours I had more than enough, I waited so long that I could well highlighted some history, to be sure no regrets. He deserved it.

Even in Pub matches if people have mics on its easy to find the Diguised person.

First off when they take the persons look that person says “they’ve got my face” or something like that, and the person who it happened to is givin a notice on screen.

If he has a mic he can easiely say, “hey guys, someone is running around disquised as me (whatever your name is)” and it shouldnt take long to pick them out from the crowd.

When they ask for some private betatester long time ago I propose myself, and the ones they chose do half of there work I suppose …

but I think I’m to punk for them :wink: even if I play SD games since the first mods and games

in all honesty i will defend this game till the lights go out and they drag me away!

because it has minot flaws, i just tend to ignore them.

sure without the flaws the game would be better porsay but we know that SD is very devoted to their fan base and customers and will eventually fix all the flaws and make the game 200% better.

wait and how long has the game been out?? dont tell me there arnt problems with most games dont have minor issues on release.

honestly could have been fixed with a much larger source of beta testers, maybe 1000? all going at the same time of day?

i wanted to open a similar thread like this myself, but you covered almost everything i currently unlike about brink.

i want to put it here again in short, no priority order:

gui:

  • total mess imho. the icons and halos and whatnot block the actual game. very often icons even block enemy players. i just cant see them. there needs to be change. take the hard road and let us choose to disable what we want to.

player interaction:

  • very bad. very unresponsive, laggy, buggy. i aim at a buddy for buffing, the system decides to run after another guy to buff him. this system needs complete re design imho. it must be more responsive and faster. the “hold down” function need to be removed completely. because of lag sometimes it does not respond its supposed to be. the very easy solution would be a “button press” to apply the buff and then a few seconds delay till it actually activates.

REMOVE THE AUTO AIM AND AUTO FOLLOWING!!111!!111 for christ sake, its so bad.

smart:

  • mostly i love it. but sometimes it feels glitchy. makes weired sounds or wobbles when i just run over small obstacles. dont you have clip brushes in your maps? there needs to be optimization to make it even more smooth. its ok right now, but i could be a lot better imho.

player movement:

  • just too slow. every body type needs a speed increase imho. in my perfect world, the strafe speed would be equal to to forward running speed. increase all sprinting speeds.

network performance:

  • optimize, optimize, optimize.

chat:

  • include one please. a real one, not just one chat line.

end of round:

  • add some more statistics please. best class, most kills, most xp, most teamkills, nooby of the battle, best accuracy, most deaths. personal stats for kills/team kills, xp, accuracy, dmg done, dmg received. smart usage? mantle, climbs…?

chat, chat, chat. in the menu there are 3 greyed options for chat at the end of the battle. do they have any purpose? communication is important for socialising.

balance:

  • where are the so uber cool netvars? “we can apply that stuff without patches.” where? when?

map balance:

  • some of your responsible level designers need a slight kick in the nuts for building some of the most unbalanced maps i have ever seen. some of the starting areas are camp raped, as you might know already, dont you? some maps need a massive redesign, at least at their starting areas.

so, i think thats it. im a bit in a hurry here but i think i got everything important.

so, next week please. this week is über update for team fortress 2 and i doubt we see something about brink this week. dooo it.
