Hello poster,
it appears to be listed as “Enemy Territory: Quake Wars” everywhere I look
Hello BondyBoy007,
yes i already saw that, but i think at Wolf: E.T. the real title is Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, so i want to be sure if Enemy Territory: Quake Wars is the correct title.
Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars
Was it too hard to go to look at the official website?
http://www.enemyterritory.com/
M8DNanite: could you please change your sig? not because of the size of 200k, but because you have Wolf:ET, ET:QW and BF in one scroll. blasphemy! my comp can’t handle that, neither my brain, i’m getting shivers from that
QFT. Those two titles should never be put even near each other, ever.
Hello General.Jung;
ET:QW is the name. This is because it’s an Enemy Territory game that is using the Quake Wars world as a theme. I think it is a spectacular mix; the best of both worlds, so to say.
edit: removed impolite for benefit the nation Canada
Hello Forum,
thanks for the replies. I only looked at the image title, where you do not can derive it, but in the Game Summery the page print Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, i think its more logical as Enemy Territory at last, now where a mental successor exists. Hope that is not a mistake.
@SKaREO: Is it in Canada not impolitely to call someone only with the last name.
QUAKE with caps on btw to be superduper correctly anal on this.
200k? uups. Dont worry about the scroll, its decelerating down all the time and ETA to freeze to QUAKE Wars at release day  And the BF2 will burn down.
2 years RTCW, 3 years in ET, 2 years in BF2 plz i want get back to ETQW soon!
does it really matter how you spell the name of the game?
Anyways, seems like you got your answer so there is no need to repeat that
And here was me thinkin the title was enemy territory: Quiche wars. Thanks for clearing that up
No, Quake is not an acronym, so there’s no reason why it should be fully capitalised. It’s just a name.
But it is capitalized.
According to enemyterritory.com and splashdamage.com that is.
Of course ‘Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars’ could be the new ‘Return to castle wolfenstein: enemy territory’, but I doubt that :).
Meh, that’s just how the typography in the official logo shows it, and it does that just for looks. By the rules of the English language, it should be just “Quake”.
If you look at idsoftware.com (the creators of Quake), you’ll see it spelled “Quake” there too.
Yeah its a product “logo” no English rules aplies. Same with a quite familiar company to us is written as: id Software . Small letters.
That’s questionable, for most copyright info it’s listed as Id Software, other places it’s often id Software.
But “Enemy Territory: Quake Wars” is a certain fact.
Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory was so named because it was originally the expansion pack for the Return to Castle Wolfenstein game, but that didn’t quite work out.
So ET became it’s own independent IP. ETQW is now considered the latest release in the Enemy Territory series.
QUAKE was just a typography thing, it’s officially Quake.
Id Software write their own name as “id software” (textually) on their webpage. It’s strange that they apply English language rules to the name of the Quake game, but not to their company’s name. :?
In the Quake 4 license agreement document (License.txt in the Quake 4 folder), Activision calls Id Software “Id Software”, and Quake “QUAKE”. It’s a mess! They should just stick to English language rules - names and titles only have the first letter capitalised, and only acronyms are fully capitalised.
Yeah, just noticed that on idsoftware.com both QUAKE and Quake are being used. It’s rather silly!
