Am with this in the line. Nothing new i guess.

That is why public relations are so important and SD is probably grieving hard on some of us right now, because we don’t talk “good” about the game. That is why public relations are so important, the propaganda and stuff, just realized this here in my country, especially after the elections, how powerful the fin media is and people believe the biggest sh!!!.

Well, i will sure not make bad comments about the game when it comes out. Only good ones, when i really feel it is good. So no worry SD  I think most of us will be about the same. It is still interesting to see how SD is developing the game and how many contradictions can be created, which are not even viewed as contradicting by some ^^ It is a weird process.

SD should just do exactly what they want and realize their vision. If the game was not planned from the start or there was a clear vision (much can change, i know, but general style is important when you start “mixing” stuff from different FPS genres) then shaping by gamers could get disastrous, because just putting incredients won’t work. They have to work togehter. Or how was that nice french quote: “the ass between the two chairs”, awesome ^^
I don’t think that they are griefing hard, but they certainly have their concerns I’d guess. And in terms of bad PR, I wouldn’t say, that that’s a big issue atm, since we aren’t allowed to talk with anyone about XT anyways. In theory we are only suppossed to talk to our realtive small group of alpha players and ofc the devs.

I think the biggest problem for us(alpha participants) to judge the game properly is, first and foremost, the fact, that we have a very, very indepth insight in the games development process and its evolvement. I think many of us, including myself, would rate it quite differently if we would’ve played it for the first time in its current state. Then we would see the game as for what it actually is now, and not as a game, that doesn’t incorporate this, for what we’ve asked for, and that for what we’ve asked for, but instead incorporates this, what wasn’t there in the first place and “no one” likes, and so on and so forth.

It’s kinda hard to “judge” XT objectively, after having played it for almost a year now. I mean, there were FPS games I really liked, but after one year they also weren’t that exiting for me anymore.
Though I’m still hoping, that we’ve only seen a fraction of what XT is going to be. Not only in the number of maps and mercs, but also in terms of story, gameplay and meta-game stuff.
