Rant time

(flakyBull) #1

Usually I go on a rant about every game I play, mainly because there are some stuff that makes no sense. So… here mine for Dirty Bomb

I like Dirty Bomb, its fun, its a shooter that actually takes skill to play instead of reflexes. But when you get kicked out of Lvl 5 and under games because your a level 6 and now your forced to play against Level 50+, then it becomes a hassle. I’m starting to learn the game and I am starting to do quite well but here is the issue. I can hit somebody with my AR and these Aura’s will one shot me with a shotgun from like 20m+ away. And when it is level 50 Cobalt cards versus my Iron Arties then it becomes an uphill battle, kinda like David and Goliath, Shotguns have way too much range, Phantom is virtually invisible and is still fast. Considering that you only get around 100+ credits on a average game, im only an average player that is not that great at shooters. Its ridiculous, they need to create more servers for players around 6-12 levels, usually what happens is ill get put into a game and at the end of it, the level 60’s will be on top and the level 7’s will be around 4-9, whilst the MVP’s will be 29-3. Its way to big of a learning curve, games like World of tanks have great learning curves, its skill based. Why not use the empty servers that have been vacant since the beginning of time and make then into lvl 6-12 servers, because by level 13 if you dont understand at least part of the game then your not gonna care about the game in normal matches. I went from doing all right in Newb lobbies to be dominated by level 60’s. Its ridiculous, you cant expect a level 5 with crappy cards to do something against Cobalt Vasili’s. I have to stick with my teammates and cling to them like fly paper to get assists. There’s no point in trying your hardest to win when people who play this everyday kill you because, they’re there. Ya know? There should be credits based on how well you do, like if I repair and escort the EV, I should get a massive credit income from that. Not 100 credits a game, because after 10 (Long and aggravating) I go to get a case and I get something like a Lead Nader, and you have to unlock that first to use it. Why not only get Mercs that you actually have that way your not wasting money like no tommorow. The only cards that I have that are better than lead is a Iron Skyhammer and I had to use my Kira’s and Bushwackers to get that, like… come. on.

  1. focus on your missions. Your credits will skyrocket, trust me.
  2. try support, I’m not a very good shot, but me and my aura know the feeling of turning a team wipe into a surprising come back.
  3. I was exactly like you when I reached level 6, and was suddenly getting demolished all the time. But find a merc, and gun, that fits your play style.
  4. don’t buy cases, you get them every so often for free. Use them instead, save your credits.
  5. anything above bronze is cosmetic. They all have the exact same load outs available.

Look around the forums for extra ways to make dough. They definitly helped me

The biggest advantage the people of a higher level have over you isn’t their cards, just their experience. Practice, practice, practice. If you’re enjoying the basics, stick with it- once you find your groove things get pretty great. If those players switched to the basic stock loadouts, they’d likely still outperform just because of their familiarity with their mercs, the maps, and what to do in certain situations.

Keep at it! It gets better.

(flakyBull) #4

But I hate the stock cards, they’re horrible the only decent one is Skyhammer, and I just spam Airstrikes. I want the good cards like Pheonix and Nader but they cost so much…

(flakyBull) #5

I try to focus on the objective but I usually get naded or hit by a bomb of some sort. I cant get anywhere near the bomb or the EV without being decimated and my teammates arent that much help :frowning:

(flakyBull) #6

And if they do have more experience then why am I being pitted against them?

(Mr-Penguin) #7

Because quick join doesn’t actually take into account your level, just your location and ping.

(1AGRESSOR) #8

naahhh LVL means nothing in this game LOL

(Yes) #9

Yeah, the highest level AUS player is the kind of person that switches to the winning team every chance he gets.

(o_HOTHEAD_o) #10

This game isn’t for casuals. The best way to get better is to get crushed… a lot.

(fancypants) #11

just hop servers until you find one with low level players, for credits win 1 game 500 credits, 1st game you play in the day 500 credits, play 1 game of objective mode 500 credits, play a game of stopwatch 500 credits, when execution is out play one game of it another 500 credits you can even join matches that are about to end and still get those credits, do the missions another 1500$ credits, plus every game you get like 120 credits or so, you can get easily 5000 credits playing for a couple of hours.

(XavienX) #12

Why do people complain about shotguns like they complain about sniper rifles…they are “bolt” action weapons with low fire rate so when they miss, there’s your chance. You either stay close against a sniper or stay far away from a shotgun. If you’re shot by either all the time that means you’re not moving much.

(CCP115) #13

Because they hurt, and with the poor visual communication in this game, it can feel incredibly unfair to be killed by one. It sucked for me back when I was new as well, and to be honest, still does. I don’t complain as much anymore as I understand their scenario specificness, but I still don’t like them very much.

As for you OP, good on you for not being salty.
Try the tips listed above, here are some more:

-DO NOT PLAY 8v8. Seriously, just go for 7v7 at maximum, and try to play 6v6. It’s a lot cleaner and a lot less of a clusterfuck.

-Do missions. Unless they are competitive missions, try to do them. Not only is it ree $$$ but you might find a new merc you like.

-Expect to die. Whenever I try any new multiplayer game, I prepare my body for getting rekt. It just happens. That’s how multiplayer is. The drive is to get better, and that should be your motivation.

In every fps games, it’s always about experience. The augments you get with bronze and higher rarity only make a slight difference. I’ve faced lvl 40s, 50s while I’m a level 19 and I’m doing better than them. You’ve just got to play more and become more experienced, good luck and welcome to the game! :>

I’ve always mentioned this to the people who rage in pubs,
“Don’t get salty, get hydrated. Don’t ragequit, get better.”

(LifeupOmega) #15

@FlakyBull Here, click this, get two bronze-tier cards for Aura and Skyhammer. It’ll help you a tiny bit, but remember that augments usually aren’t game changers.

We all started out new, a lot of us just powered through and got better with practice. Also keep in mind that Skyhammer and his M4 is one of the best merc/weapon choices in the game right now, if you need a reliable merc to fall back on keep him in your squad.

Also, if you want to play a more stable game, stick to 6v6. 7v7 and 8v8 tend to introduce way more spam and makes it much harder to learn the game.

(HoopleDoople) #16

Most of this has been covered pretty well, but I want to make one point to address the OP.

Phantom is not virtually invisible, nor is he particularly fast (only 5 mercs are slower than him if the wiki is correct). With practice you’ll be able to reliably spot Phantoms, setting you up for easy kills on them. That isn’t to say Phantoms won’t still ambush you, but he doesn’t have that much easier of a time setting up an ambush than other mercs do. The difference is that Phantom players are far more likely to attempt ambushes than any other merc.

I played 8v8 once and it felt like you could hardly move without getting killed. We were winning, too! Couldn’t agree with this more.

It would be okay with larger maps but the current map setup for Dirty Bomb champions 5v5 + 6v6 for sure. Wish they had 5v5 servers.

(canzpl) #18

Reading this pubbie rant made me chuckle at least 4 times, but when I got the the World of Tanks part I just exploded with laughter. I play WoT since 2011, I got a 57% win ratio while screwing around and doing riddiculous shit on stream.

And I got to tell you, you sound exactly like one of the tomatoes that play the game.

To fill everyone that does not play tanks: WoT has a very big population of players, from which 80% completely sucks, does not intend to learn, is stubborn or simply less fortunate intellectually to comprehend a complex game like WoT. Especially on the EU server, where the mix of languages and cultures produce the biggest cancer known to online gaming.
If you think that League of Legends ot CS:GO, or DOTA2 has the worst playerbase, you clearly never played World of Tanks on EU. I play/played all of the games mentioned. I’ve been playing online multiplayer team games since 2001 and I have never ever seen such a phenomenon as this. It’s a unique experience. Due to the part of the playerbase in majority consisting of people below 16 years old and people above 30 years old. It’s either the kids, or the “grandpas” as we like to call them. They both refuse to learn, are not too smart/experienced, they spew out broken englando “insults” which are more of a joke than an insult once you read them (those mongs can’t even produce a proper sentence in english).
As a result of that the 80% of the playerbase has less than 50% win ratio. And that is horrible. If you lose more games than you win in world of tanks -> you are terrible. The win ratios and the WN8 stat (which is used to determine how good a player is) are color coded to quickly identify if you have a good or a bad player in the team.

I’m going to use an old scale as an example, because it has the color keys included

Now why did I call him a tomato? Because everybody that is red on the color scheme or close to red is called a tomato in that game. It represents everything I mentioned above.

WoT is a slow paced game for grandpas that don’t have reflexes, the tier progression system does not promote “skill”. Anyone can get to the top tier tanks in a matter of time (and most do, with a horrible win ratio in them). It’s a grind fest for most of the noobs that refuse to learn, and when you see a red-orange team in a top tier battle on your side, you know you are fucked.

Now when we got that one explained, you can see that this guy is one of the tomatoes that came from World of Tards, because he jumped into DB - a game where a 0.1s can mean life or death, where reflexes matter and where you need speed to win - and he complains that he sucks at the game without wanting to learn, read guides, no experience in fps games.

He represents everything I despise in WoT community

(Grave_Knight) #19

You might also want to watch some videos on jumping. Also DO NOT aim down sights. Not that you should never do it, just get use to not doing it. In most scenarios hip fire is better and you should only ADS if you’re fighting at range.

I can spot them there just harder to do so when your being enveloped in explosions
