Rant time

[quote=“Canz;96993”]Reading this pubbie rant made me chuckle at least 4 times, but when I got the the World of Tanks part I just exploded with laughter. I play WoT since 2011, I got a 57% win ratio while screwing around and doing riddiculous shit on stream.

And I got to tell you, you sound exactly like one of the tomatoes that play the game.

To fill everyone that does not play tanks: WoT has a very big population of players, from which 80% completely sucks, does not intend to learn, is stubborn or simply less fortunate intellectually to comprehend a complex game like WoT. Especially on the EU server, where the mix of languages and cultures produce the biggest cancer known to online gaming.
If you think that League of Legends ot CS:GO, or DOTA2 has the worst playerbase, you clearly never played World of Tanks on EU. I play/played all of the games mentioned. I’ve been playing online multiplayer team games since 2001 and I have never ever seen such a phenomenon as this. It’s a unique experience. Due to the part of the playerbase in majority consisting of people below 16 years old and people above 30 years old. It’s either the kids, or the “grandpas” as we like to call them. They both refuse to learn, are not too smart/experienced, they spew out broken englando “insults” which are more of a joke than an insult once you read them (those mongs can’t even produce a proper sentence in english).
As a result of that the 80% of the playerbase has less than 50% win ratio. And that is horrible. If you lose more games than you win in world of tanks -> you are terrible. The win ratios and the WN8 stat (which is used to determine how good a player is) are color coded to quickly identify if you have a good or a bad player in the team.

I’m going to use an old scale as an example, because it has the color keys included

Now why did I call him a tomato? Because everybody that is red on the color scheme or close to red is called a tomato in that game. It represents everything I mentioned above.

WoT is a slow paced game for grandpas that don’t have reflexes, the tier progression system does not promote “skill”. Anyone can get to the top tier tanks in a matter of time (and most do, with a horrible win ratio in them). It’s a grind fest for most of the noobs that refuse to learn, and when you see a red-orange team in a top tier battle on your side, you know you are fucked.

Now when we got that one explained, you can see that this guy is one of the tomatoes that came from World of Tards, because he jumped into DB - a game where a 0.1s can mean life or death, where reflexes matter and where you need speed to win - and he complains that he sucks at the game without wanting to learn, read guides, no experience in fps games.

He represents everything I despise in WoT community

Mate, I have an average score, 1000 is my average. Im not carrying but im certainly not being carried.

No, 1000 is horrible. It’s the average, but it only says one thing that I already mentioned -> the average player is horrible.

I agree with you on one point. Level 6 to join the big league is definitely too low. I also have to commend you for sticking to the max level 5 servers until you couldn’t anymore. Unfortunately there are too many people under level 5 joining regular games.

Now since we can’t really change the fact that there are no max level 12 servers, which I’m all for btw, I have to give you a few advices.

First of all, never ever buy 1000 credit cases, unless you own all mercs available and you have no leads to trade up.

Second: Try to get a bronze card by trading up leads to irons and irons to bronze as soon as you have enough credits and lead/ iron cards. If you get all 9 lead cards through drops from playing, you’ll need 2500 credits to get a bronze card. Furthermore, anything above bronze is just cosmetic. All loadouts available in cobalt are available in gold, silve and bronze. Only iron and lead have respectively 1 and 2 augments (perks if you wish) missing.

Third: Once you have that bronze card and it’s for a merc you enjoy, purchase that merc if it’s not done yet and try to master that particular merc. Then get more bronze loadouts through trading up of random case drop leads/irons and continues from there.

Forth: focus on doing the missions as much as you can as well as the daily win and first match bonus from Stopwatch, Objective and Execution when it comes out next week.

Fifth: Try to reduce your mouse sensitivity if it is not low already. I do about 90 degrees when moving my wrist fully from left to right. It’ll be tough to adjust at first but a low sensibility means that you can more easily fine tune your aim to the pixel.

Sixth: Watch others play whenever you’re down and don’t shy from switching to spectate and learn from a good player rocking a specific merc. When I got interested in Fletcher, I watched a few people play him before I even purchased him and tried him out myself.

Seventh: Learn advanced moving techniques, such as long jump and wall jump, as well as the relevant jumps from the different maps to take as shortcuts.

Eight: Don’t be shy and use your microphone in-game to ask and tell stuff to people. Like, I need a revive or here is ammo, etc. Just remember to be polite XD.

These advices come from my own experience from newcomer to what I play now. I have 340h on the game, am level 25 and own all mercs with at least one bronze for all of them, sometimes silver and even a few golds. I never spend real money on the game and all I’m missing is a cobalt, which I hope to get by trading up some day soon.

Finally, try and watch some streams in your free time. Learning the game comes from not playing it sometimes XD. You can watch my stream twitch.tv/madlumi if you don’t know any other streams, although I’m sure there are many other good streamers out there.

Also, you can PM me with any questions you might have. I’ll gladly help out.

Well then I guess I am above average. I’ll play a T62 on Tundra and dominate. By those standards I am an above average player, considering the average player as an IQ of 40 and a WN8 of ~400.

This game does have balance problems across the board but I never had the same feeling when I was around the same level as you. My advice to you would be. Find some friends and play together as often as you can, you can not beat knowing someone has your back in this game. I have met so many good players and some really awesome people along the way and it’s made the game alot more fun that it could have been. As far as the balancing goes then I agree with you, I’m a level 32 myself and there is nothing I hate more than joining a game and realising I’m the most experienced player there. I’ve gone through explaining things on voip to new players and trying to help them with the ‘do’s and don’ts’ but I’m always greeted with the same thing, ‘level 32 fag, get a life’ or ‘level 32 in a OPEN lobby’. It’s as annoying for us high levels as it is for you new guys. Part if the problem is the lack of min level 10 servers, they are rarely half full which sucks and when they do have people in them they are so unbalanced it’s pointless being in there. I don’t have any idea on how they could make this better for everyone because it’s impossible to please everyone. Do they cater for the casuals or the seasoned players? Either option alienates a segment of the player base and that’s never good. My last bit if advice to you would be to watch as much dirty bomb related content as you can, the dirty cups are amazing for new players. You learn the maps, playstyle of the mercs and you get to see how the pro players deal with certain scenarios. I learned alot by watching them and it made up for my lack of experience. There are also a few great youtubers to turn to, How to sniff, kAndyREW and nuclear shark head to name my personal favourites. Great content and very helpful, shark head has released trick jump videos in the past which show you how to do it and where to do it, a must watch for any new player. Anyway, that’s as much help and advice I can give you, I’ll leave you with the most important bit of advice, practice. Practice is key, if you truly enjoy the game then play the shit out of it, practice your jumps in the warm ups practice your nade throwing when ever possible, it’s the only way to improve every avenue of your game at the end if the day. Good luck my friend and enjoy.

@Mister__Wiggles

pretty much all you said, the only thing I could still add, is to try and eventually play every single merc there is, either taking advantage of rotations or by purchasing them, as knowing what your opponent can and cannot do will help you take a decision in critical situations.

Agreed, pheonix for free is a bargain for lower level players. He’s arguably the best medic and probably the best aggressive medic there is so having him for free is good for them. At the end of the day, every player has something they are good at and something they aren’t so good at. I’m a good support player and I’m effective at playing assault and getting important frags for the team but I am god awful at sniping so lately I’ve worked on improving that side of my game. No matter the level you are for ever learning and I believe it’s important for low level players to remember that, keep practicing and find your niche.
