(DrFunkenstein) #2

Can you reinstall ETQW on the server and have you tried that?

Dr. Funkenstein

(BlueRed) #3

Hi thx for your response,

i have of course try to reinstall the dedicated server files…
i have also deleted the complete servers temp files and even punkbuster…

Same result server will crash

(Crytiqal) #4

Well, the problem obviously is stated here:

signal caught: ‘Segmentation fault’, si_code 1
callstack:
0xf53abb80
[0x082e5451]
[0x082e201d]
[0xffffe600]
[0x084af0cf]
[0x083a18eb]
[0x0030746b]
[0x00273dbe]

To my knowledge this has something to do with (RAM) memory, and/or read/write access to it, but I am not sure, sorry…

they talk about si_code 1 here:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=84573

And here it is mentioned again in combination with segmentation fault, but totally unrelated to the game:
http://forums11.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?admit=109447626+1291543302660+28353475&threadId=1244130

Therefor I think it’s a hardware/OS problem rather then the game.
Maybe this helps if you know what it talks about…:
http://objectmix.com/weblogic/567256-what-segmentation-violation-error.html

But I would have a chat with your server provider cause the problem lies in there I think.

(BlueRed) #5

Our Provider is now moving the server to a “new” Serverhardware …
maybe it will be better …

(Spaiker) #6

Good luck, always nice to see people still supporting my favorite game

(brbrbr) #7

sigfaults mean something was [become]less ETQW-compatible[w/server ETQW binaries].
usuall for newer OS kernel, some drivers or libraries updates and in case of interference with some anti-virus/anti-rootkit/malware toolkits/sw suites.
launch GDB/valgrind and seek[&destroy’;]cause of such fatal error.

(BlueRed) #8

What is the suggested OS for a dedicated Server?

(Crytiqal) #9

I suppose it would be Linux, although I am hosting fine on Windows 7 Ultimate with every bit of unnessecary services turned off

(DutchGirl) #10

I had many problems whit Punkbuster, its kickt me out in evry map,ore game… i instalt it again for like 5 time’s,realy anoying.

(brbrbr) #11

yes, Linux ETQW binaries[both client and server binaries]are way slower and buggy.
on windows, ETQW even support[according to ETQW 1.5 Windows binary PE header] PAE, so if you got x64 Windows and more than 4Gb of RAM, ETQW will benefit from it.
especially in high-res modes.

(Crytiqal) #12

hey BlueRed you should have a word with WujaDaniel

that guy is the worst admin ever kicking, everyone who thinks* is cheating and muting constantly.
Seriously, playing on your server really isn’t fun when he is online

PS: How is the server coming along?

(brbrbr) #13

[QUOTE=Crytiqal;254707]hey BlueRed you should have a word with WujaDaniel

PS: How is the server coming along?[/QUOTE]

but otherwise, whats are admin for ?
patiently listening[&doing nothing]2 requests ?
or trying respond to some[reasonably sounding]requests ?
some admins less tolerance/suspicion threshold, some was more, but main concept is same: common sense&attempts to make competition fair[anyway].

(Crytiqal) #14

making competition fair by kicking people?

(Dthy) #15

Server’s have always been kicking people to make even out the playing field. You just have to either nub it up so you won’t get kicked or man up and find a different server

(Crytiqal) #16

Getting pretty difficult for me since I like servers where my ping is below 50 and those get me banned all the time lol

There are not many servers left

(Dthy) #17

True, thats why i never stay on most servers to long  Some servers are fine, such as OMS and sK

(Breo) #18

It crashed because the banlist is full?

(xTriXxy) #19

hahaaha lol:cool:

(brbrbr) #20

more like, opposite version.
its crashed because its NOT full.
not yet.
