I’ve been sitting on my chair for over 20 minutes looking for a match at 1 in the afternoon. Dunno about you guys, but Asia really needs more players. Any insight or solutions to get new players? With DB releasing soon, Splash Damage needs to step up their marketing team.
Ranked Participants Deficit?
DB is releasing soon? Where did you hear that? (fairly sure this is false)
If you want more players, help the game and yourself out by telling your friends about it.

There’s an entire dev video confirming thus. I think it’s around the time they said that they’re leaving Nexon.
In my country, having a decent laptop and running internet is a privilege not much can enjoy, and I feel quite blessed to be able to participate in DB. Barely anyone in my school can play the game, and those that do, have some of the weirdest sleep schedules. How about you? Any issue finding matches?
As far as I know, ranked has really gone down hill everywhere else too. It takes me forever to find a match here in North America, and when I finally do someone usually disconnects.

We should have a weekend where we force everyone to play ranked.
i stopped playing ranked because people keep surendering
also the team killing
also the idiots who keep quitting because they think quitting is even more okay in ranked
also the frooty-tootin people who keep punishing me for friendly fire even tho they are the ones who walked up to my line of sight

I mostly dislike ranked because of how unbalanced it is. It just isn’t fun deranking because you happen to get stuck with a bunch of people who can’t even drop ammo after doing your best to win.
It’s literally more unbalanced than PUBs, and PUBs have no balance, wtf.
Fast paced gameplay was the marketing phrase I used to get ppl into DB… sadly, none could be retained for technical reasons.

Deranking is like the selling point of ranked
“We heard you like ranks, so we gonna derank you every few loses and take away like x3 worth of your wins, enjoy seeing “deranked” message!!”

Here’s the issue (for me at least) though; most competitive games have this"ELO Hell" from which deranking will match you against scrubs so you win instantly, but ranking up, and the competition is to heated to maintain your rank, and eventually you derank. In Dirty Bomb, you can’t go to ELO Hell nor ascend to the Heavenly Elite, because you’re stuck in limbo at the lobby, hopelessly trying to find a match, and naively praying that your hypothetical match is balanced.
blah, there is no better system possible
I believe dota had no promotions\deranks, just visible MMR, no?
That would solve at least this nuisance.
Im in n/a and had to play eu servers for most of the day. Dont forget east coast players probably enjoying the first realy warm day instead of staying inside. I wouldnt be surprised if the player count goes down slightly for the next few months now that its mid spring and schools almost out for the summer. Im usualy at about 10-15 rounds on db on saturdays but only played about 5 at most. Since i spent most of the day doing yard work, detailing my car with my wife, And got a few rounds of a closed beta thats under nda
Chances are, the playerbase will go up as Summer approaches. Considering school’s gonna be out soon for many people, middle school, high school, and even college students, more people are gonna have time for DB more often. I’m sure people will find time to enjoy the weather as well as DB!
As for ranked, the lack of players in NA may be due the server defaulting to EU in Ranked. I really hope this issue gets fixed soon. I played a EU match accidentally (horrible ping of 150, never again), and the majority of people were NA players. If those players went to NA, we could have a decent amount of people damn it!

I’m sorry, but what’s NMR?

matchmaking ranking point
its based on how your performance (the score you earn) rather than win/lose ratio
actually, its kind of genius because humans are not perfect and even the biggest baddest skillest player will lose sometimes.
but i dont think i know how to apply MMR to DB

Duh, you don’t. You’re a cat playing Commodore.
Yeah, judging rank by score would be so good sinceit would reward all types of players. Win/Loss is an awful counter to measure skill for reasons we all know.
The question is what you are playing Ranked for in the first place. I am firmly placed in the middle of the silver tier, and as far as I can tell I won’t get promoted anytime soon since after every two good games we are matched against a semi-pro clan of former CS:GO players who simply outperform us. But with getting higher ranks being one of the selling points of Ranked there is no more reason to play, so instead I will wait for the season to be over and collect my silver trinket.
Assuming I am not the only one doing this, this is where your player deficit comes from.

Yep. Almost everyone I know, regardless of skill, is stuck in silver because they keep getting stuck in horribly unbalanced matches.

I got to mid silver and as soon as i get mid silver i always seem to loose every match untill i go low bronse before i get within one or two matches of my highest level. then the whole multiple de rank begins again.
