Ok i was Playing the RADAR map the other day and someone said they had turned the rain off
Were they pulling my leg or is it really possible to get rid of it
I would love to get rid of this cause it causes a bit of Lag when im fighting :’(

\cg_atmosphericeffects 0
It’s in the manual… Although the effects on frame rate are negligible in most cases.
Thanks
and i presume its
\cg_atmosphericeffects 1
to turn on again?

- Performance Boosters
Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory allows you to customize your settings so that you can improve the visuals or decrease them. Some of them have a greater impact on performance than others. Below are some settings that will improve your performance, but at the expense of the visuals:

But most servers I play require cg_atmosphericeffects=1 and/or r_picmip<3, so you might not change these two cvars anyways.
// Atmospheric Effects Toggle
// ---------------------------------------
set atmtog1 "cg_atmosphericeffects 0; set atmtog vstr atmtog2; echo ^3Atmospheric Effects ^7OFF"
set atmtog2 "cg_atmosphericeffects 1; set atmtog vstr atmtog1; echo ^3Atmospheric Effects ^7ON"
set atmtog "vstr atmtog2"
bind X "vstr atmtog"
- \com_maxfps (set to a high number i.e 400)
Can someone explain why that would be a performance booster?
i don’t see why you would need it, it would be kind of obvious if the atmospheric effects aren’t showing up.
True, but on servers which require cg_atmosphericeffects 1 the toggle version doesn’t seem to change the value (for the purposes of not getting kicked by PinkBuster) if the initial value is 0.
Maybe he should add additional set-commands to his script like this:
set atmtog1 "seta cg_atmosphericeffects 0; set atmtog vstr atmtog2; echo ^3Atmospheric Effects ^7OFF"
See this link for more info about the set/seta commands.
tbh when atmosphericeffects is restricted to 1 its a nice sign whoever set it up hasnt much of a clue what theyre doing. it makes virtually no difference to visability, and the fps difference is far from negligible, at least on my gf3ti200.
Ragnar_40k kendle is saying his one already works, and that it is the toggle having issues with PB.
