Rahdo's words - what happened here?
do you really believe that ms blocked the dlc? cmon guys… it’s an excuse
rahdo said it, they have limited resources, quakecon is coming, our requests are many and they are trying to do something
According to them the DLC is already completed and is still pending approval by MS and/or Sony. badman alluded that it was already completed when he said it would be out in early July. I just find it odd that they have no clue when their DLC is going to be released if it’s already completed. I’ve never seen a company not know when their DLC is going to be released.

I believe this suggestion to be fundamentally incorrect.

I’m a PC player. I don’t care if Brink is multi-platform. But I do care how it’s built and performs on PC. I don’t want a console game on PC. I want a PC game on PC.

I’ve also got it on PS3. It feels a lot more at home - despite the issues it has there too. Continued lag and graphical issues being the first two that come to mind.

The guys over at DICE seem to be doing it right. Building a PC version and getting the console versions right. If they nail it (and I expect them to), I’ll really question why other organisations cannot.

That’s also curious, I think it was Exedore that said he has a friend at DICE? I wonder how big the DICE dev team are compared to SD. I’ve seen a lot of statements about manpower and time with regards to some features, just curious is all. Seems if DICE do pull it off and they have similar sized work force, then building for PC then porting to console seems to right path to take.

DICE has EA behind them with a terrific track record of profit and hopes of outselling COD. They have to have abigger team amd budget
Ah, so you work at splash damage now, congrats.

Why answer when you don’t know? Couldn’t it be just as likely that it failed to pass approval due to be bug ridden or of poor quality and was delayed?

I asked the question because why speculate?
maybe because its not the consumers job to design the game? and because information on the way that MS/Sony deal with gaming companies in term of deployment on their systems is everywhere?

(morguen87) #446

What are you babbling about? My question is: why doesn’t SD even know what month their DLC is going to be released in?

(Exedore) #447

There’s not really a comparison… they’re working on it in multiple continents.

(Exedore) #448

The general, professional rule is we will comment on things that are under our control, and stay silent about the rest.

(TheG4mer) #449

To sum it up, Rahdo lied in every single point.
SD don’t think the gamers will do the same fault once again and listen to your empty promises!

You didnt bother to actually read anything here? Did you?

(Verticae) #451

Correct me if I’m wrong, but the DLC debate is being had in other threads. I thought this one was about design decisions.

(shirosae) #452

From Rahdo’s twitter account: “any second now. we’ve been in submission for awhile, but damn bugs keep popping up delaying it. very soon hopefully…”

Sounds plausible, given the number of bugs Brink shipped with.

(wolfnemesis75) #453

now I am very intrigued by future plans. what could they be?

this tweet is from 19th june. two days old already.

i have feeling that we see the dlc tomorrow.

(wolfnemesis75) #455

I stopped trying to guess dlc release.

(Exedore) #456

It won’t come so suddenly. There is a period of time between successful certification and it going live on the relevant marketplaces, and that’s when the official announcement will come.

(Verticae) #457

Well, to go back to the comments on actual design decisions:

Why doesn’t Brink have any forward spawns? This was a mechanic that worked fantastically on it’s predecessors, and it’s definitely kept the flow of actions dynamic in those games. Similarly, the way the game locks objectives is pretty dull. I’m not saying it should be as open as W:ET, but ETQW had a fantastic system in place to both keep the action centered, but also account for the next objective.

(Seiniyta) #458

sigh, I hope at least you guys have somehting SMART planned to draw more players to the game…

(Shinigami) #459

Exedore, these things come out on tuesdays, right? so if we dont get it by next tuesday, we r not really getting it by july are we :frowning: oh and are both the dlc and patch gonna come out at the same time? having the patch pre-dlc would be awesome (not vice versa tho).

(wolfnemesis75) #460

Will we ever see Rank 6 abilities as a part of the design plan or just expanded rank 5 abilities or possible specialization upgrades as suggested by Cep?
