I’d like to know if, when you join a server that has ETpro enabled and you (the player) need to download ETpro before joining, will it change your game in any way when you’re not playing on ETpro servers? I’m still quite unclear on what ETpro really is or what it does. The reason I’m asking is because I usually play on Boomtown, and someone apparently changed Boomtown servers 1 to 3 into terrible Shrub servers a few days ago. Boomtown 4 is ETpro, however; will I still be able to play on regular servers with ETpro.pk3 installed, or will I need to uninstall it somehow at that point? Thanks.
Quick question about ETpro
u should be ok as etpro has its own folders with its owns configs so u should be able to switch between etpro/shrub/main servers without any agg
Think of mods as seperate games.
So you don’t have to uninstall something.
You can join the servers you like (if you have installed the mod-otherwise it will be downloaded and installed).
The mods are all installed “parallel” in the directory where the et.exe is.
nUllSkillZ is about right—ET puts each mod in its own directory underneath the main ET directory (with ‘etmain’ being the stock game.) Whenever you connect to a server running a mod, ET automatically switches to the correct directory, and everything will be happy. The only case where you might get different behavior than you expect is after disconnecting from a server running a mod; in this case, the mod will still be active when going to the menu, which may change the menus around a bit. (For example, etpro has a ‘MODS’ menu which allows you to pick a different mod to play, plus some fixes for the in-game server browser, so some people make ET load etpro by default by adding ‘+set fs_game etpro’ to the command line.)
