Quick knife help

i binded quick knife function to left alt but it acts like right mouse click and i want it to be like left click

can it be done?

Quick knife is anything but quick sadly. It’s the RMB version of the knife as opposed to the LMB. I have no clue why it was done like this and it’s why most players simply switch to their knife (since they do that to run all the time anyway).

I have my knife bind on a thumb button since I use it more than almost any other bind in the game.

there is no quicker way

all the good players have equip melee as a thumb mouse button.

its faster than the quick melee plus your able to follow up quick slashes if you miss plus the added bonus of mobility.

If you don’t have a thumb button just put equip melee to alt, trust my its a world of difference.

this should also be said for people who love fletcher, change your quick ability Q key to equip instead, same situation

You could use a mouse macro but it’s simply easier to learn to switch to the knife and use it. As I said, most of your time moving in this game should be with your knife out so you should already be pretty adapt at getting it out.

I guess if people don’t have a thumb button it makes it annoying for them.

once they equip the knife they have to press the 1 key for their primary, unless they have toggle primary as middle mouse button. though even today many people don’t even know what it means lol

and if they have a two button mouse, well…

Sounds very close to macro-cheating, so I wouldn’t recommend trying to do something like that.

Just press 3, then LMB. Your switch speed and time to slash is quicker than actually using the “quick melee” button. :L I stopped using my melee button a long time ago, because it sucks. :frowning:

then why the hell would you sacrifice mobility for such a high demand utility.

I swear I hit my equip melee button nearly as much as I hit left mouse :smiley:

I agree with @Faraleth, that’s exactly what I do.And binding it to the thumb button would scr.ew me over cause I use that button as special 1 mainly to toggle Redeye’s thermal and throw ammo

in my case equip is binded to “2” just above “W” of course but that’s not the problem

when i get kill and want to quick finis him or in cqb while reloading or what ever

than i would need to first press 2 and than left click

I’m the opposite, I need full mobility when I’m using something so often as the knife. and pressing 3 (in other words not being able to move forward) would screw me over :smile:

the other thumb button is toggle primary, though I’m thinking of doing something about that since I’m out of ammo on my primary a lot!!!

Both my thumb buttons are bound to abilities so I have melee weapon on mouse3, aka pressing the mousewheel. My middle finger is always on the wheel so switching between primary/secondary/melee is always fast.

and can equip melee and slash at the same time, pressing mouse three and left mouse at the same time just messes my head crazy just thinking about performing such a maneuver

For me it always* seemed most effective to have middle finger on the wheel and ring finger on right button, for gaming and office work. That’s how my hand naturally rests on the mouse. I have to stretch my middle finger to reach to right button and then ring finger and pinky are just in each others way on the side.

(*) I mean since the introduction of the wheel. I feel old when someone is suprised that some time ago mice had only two buttons :slight_smile:

lol yeah that’s just it, I’m 32 years old. I remember when I swapped from keyboard to keyboard and mouse! LOL

it would mess me up so bad trying to work it like that, makes perfect sense though.

if someone said " hey here’s a million dollars if you can master the right mouse button with your ring finger in 5 months" i wouldn’t be a millionare i can tell you now LOL!

Honestly, I personally don’t even have quick melee binded, since I find just switching to 3 better. You can run faster, do quick slashes and do heavy stabs when you want.
