Queue as a group.

(tomatoPop) #1

I’m sure this might have been mentioned already but I’m going to give my 2 cents anyway.

If I could queue a group to join the same server with my friends it would improve the game rather dramatically as a multiplayer experience.
In other FPS games I can do this, currently in DB however I have to find an empty (or half empty) server, tell my friends to join, Suffer though a map or two until we manage to be on the same team and then hope there isn’t a vote to randomize the teams once we’re actually all on the same team.
My humble suggestion is being able to queue as a group with your friends and being able to “lock” that group so those friends remain on the same side.

Cheers for reading and I hope some of ye find this idea half interesting.

This has been brought up many times, and I can safely tell you, this is currently being worked on. :stuck_out_tongue: There is no ETA on it currently, nor any news of exactly what kind of party system it will be, but there will definitely be public party/matchmaking queues in the future. I have a feeling it could be fairly soon though. Hope this helps!

“Competition Mode”

(tomatoPop) #4

Thanks, good to know.

Missed my point entirely, this has nothing to do with Competitive matches.

Comp.

How would pub stomping with a premade team make this game a better multiplayer experience?

Because crushing enemies under cold, meticulous teamwork is always a beautiful feeling.

I want this too, but if competitive mode is any indication this is going to make team balance even worse than it already is. Any word on how it is planned to accommodate grouped players while maintaining some semblance of team balance?

(Daergar) #8

Simple; that’s impossible. The only real option would be to queue group vs group, but then;

They did the logical thing already, split the game into public and competitive, and allowing pre-made teams to play in one. Allowing groups into public would be so utterly… you know what, I am sure they will. I yield.

Because stomping in competitive is the exact same thing but with less people.

The only thing I will say on this, is that teams that queue as a team should only ever be matched against other pre-made teams, otherwise it is little more than organised pub-stomping.

I have no issue however, with being able to organise 10 friends into two opposing teams and play against each other, that is always great fun. But grouping up to stomp a random pub team is little more than cowardly bullying in my opinion, because you give yourselves a huge advantage, and that is what competitive mode is supposed to be for anyway.

Having a random pub team be forced to go up against organised bullies who don’t want to play against another organised team will hasten the exodus of players in casual mode. The matchmaking/balance is already bad enough as it is.

It is, unless that other team has no teamwork, organisation etc to speak of, in which case it is just a bunch of weak players bullying an easy-to-beat team, especially if they don’t have the backbone to take their team into comp matches. The players that are forced to play against them will leave the match when they realise, and the backfills will probably leave too. And if it happens too often, then many players will quit if the only way they can have a fun, balanced match is to form their own pre-made team.

This game needs more players right now, it doesn’t need any more quitting.

(FlatBeat) #11

immenseWalnut said it well.Public servers tend to be unbalanced enough as it is and allowing groups to queue together would only make the problem worse. The majority of players are lower level/skill and if Db wants to attract and keep new players I think this would be a bad idea.

(terminal) #12

As much as I want Casual lobbies, I think it should be held back until Dirty bomb gets more players.
Or else we’ll get more cry babies.

It plays out like this, yes, but it’s not the exact same thing at all. Competitive is meant to be a competitive environment, but people that just want to play with a party go there because they think it is how they get to have fun with friends. They will get rolled by premades and not have any fun at all. I think at the most, you should be able to queue in pubs in a party of TWO.

I always laugh at the people that go into competitive expecting an easy game that is casual. They always cry about how their team is complete shit, but it is their lack of teamwork and expectation that got them there. :*)

that sounds really fun

(immenseWalnut) #15

Does that include the players that are only there to fulfil their missions? That mission REALLY needs to be pulled in my opinion.

And does it include the people that want to have a competitive match and CHOOSE to sign up by themselves, to end up in a team of randoms vs a co-ordinated pre-made?

The entire mode isn’t working very well, in fact, we could actually do with a 3rd option, team vs team, or random vs random. Yes, at first, the queuing will be horrendous, but once people learn to step in, and start having fun, balanced matches, the numbers would hopefully improve, but as it stands, Comp mode is painful if you experience hackers, pre-mades, lowbies doing missions etc.

(Remedica) #16

@sensitiveJellyfish Exactly this.

(tomatoPop) #17

I can queue a group of 2-4 players in Ghost Recon Phantoms public maps as well as some other FPS games and while I see the point in how it can affect game balance I’d hate if my group was limited to facing other groups.
Just my opinion though.

(immenseWalnut) #18

I love it when I’m right! I just got that sense about you from your first post, that you and your mates were nothing more than weak players just looking for easy slaughter.

Come see me and some of my mates sometime, we will happily play against you :disappointed:

(Chase) #19

The reality is people want to play with their friends and pubstomp. Hasn’t that always been the case with all fps games?

(immenseWalnut) #20

Only if you have no self respect at all mate. Real players like to compete with each other.
