question re: ping_\_\

i was on a server with good pings and almost everyone else had a ping

below 100. then some peoples connected and there pings were around

500+ . then someone started bitching “kick him his ping is cheap and gay”(if a ping could be gay  ) people didnt care, then the person bitching said hes laggy and that laggs all of you down then they kicked him i was like" uh im not laggy at all so wtf you kick him\her" so then they go on to tell me shut up you “noob” anyways i got off the sever and now im left wondering , does other people crappy ping effect everyone elses?? im not talking about 999 ping this obviously affects the game play but the high pings which , are obviously still playabel since people have these pings

does other people crappy ping effect everyone elses

No. Some people claim it does, but there I see no plausable reason for this to be true, nor have I seen any evidence that it is.

I hate that:
“ur laggin the server, all ppl with 300+ ping leave coz ur laggin us!!” :bash:

(ETplayer) #4

he will not lag u or the server up, the problem is… the person with the 500+ ping… will usually iritate people…

Usually a guy with 500+ ping will warp from 1 place 2 another , and if hes bunnyhopping…
We had this one guy on a server, u couldnt hit him he would just stand still and shoot u… the only way u could get him killed was with grenades and with panzers…

My suggestion is: turn anti-lag off, it will help.

(Sauron|EFG) #5

And my suggestion to all server admins is to turn it on; I see no reason to turn it off on a public server.

(ETplayer) #6

anti lag usually gives people with crappy pings an advantage over good players… it SUCKS to have a warping player against u whos having good shots/good aim… anti-lag off makes it so, that normal player doesnt have the friggin warping effect and u can shoot him on the place he’s warping…

The player with the crap ping should play on a server from his own country were his ping is beneath 100 or 200…

and if u have a 28.8k connection…
:eek2:

god do i FEEL sorry for you…

(mouse) #7

Ehmm, correct me if im wrong, but arent you warping all over his screen too? So whats his advantage then?

(IPvD) #8

High-pinging players will appear to “warp” or jerk spastically from place to place as opposed to the smooth movement projected by low-pingers. Some idiots latch onto this as cheating or unfair or an advantage – but having played on a 56k modem and below for many years, the disadvantage of long response time more than compensates.

(SCDS_reyalP) #9

My suggestion is… don’t listen to ETplayer. Even with antilag on, high pingers still suffer. They just don’t suffer as much.

Nice pic though.

Speaking of lag i have recently been having problems with my ping. Some servers are fine, with my ping around 80. The past few days ive noticed some servers that ive played on for a long time get really laggy, and i get pings of 300+ when usually i only get 90 or so. So im not sure why that happens but it pisses me off. Oh and trust me with a ping of 300 i couldnt hit a guy walking :disgust: , much less a skilled player (but at least he couldnt kill me ).

Was it by anyway servers hosted by Über1337 ?

They changed the ip range on all their game servers sunday/monday this week, and all our Spanish players had a ping increase by 100% or more.

It was because the spanish tele(something) didnt auto update their routing tables… The problem was solved today.

(Fusen) #13

I’ve played on 2 meg line downloading and uploading at least 40kb/s which will make my ping go from 300 to 600 and its not that hard to kill the enemy with smg. so its bull**** that it is worse off on the lagger

So given a choice, would you play at 600 ping rather than 60 ?

You notice all the top league players switching to modems, because of the advantage it gives them ?

Didn’t think so. :moo:
