Question about RTCW multiplayer.

To play online do I need some update.Like for ET?

Found it but when I try to put it in it says:Cannot find RTCW installed on your computer?

chances are if you own the original release you are going to need to get the latest patch in order to find any decent amount of servers you can connect to. go to http://www.rtcwfiles.com/ for patches.

If you have the “Game of the year version” this is allready version 1.33 so get 1.40 full then 1.41.
If you have the non game of the year version then get patch 1.33 (contains new maps),then 1.40 then 1.41.

I think Platinum Edition" may even be fully patched…

Start MP, bring down the console (with the key to the left of “1”) and look at the version number in the lower right corner to find out which version you have.

(Note that a fully patched SP is v1.33.)

You could send the game to you and pay the mailman on delivery…

Well if you go into options on the main mp screen you can re-enter your CD key.

When you first install the game you have to enter the CD key - if your copy is warzed then just like Quake3, it’ll let you play the single player game but you’ll get an ‘Invalid CD Key’ when you try to go online.

RtCW is worth the money tbh and besides, if XP in ET turns you off then you can test your skill on the original mp gametype.

if u bought it on ebay or from a “friend”, u only bought singleplayer, for all intents and purposes, lol. never buy an opened, used game if you want to play it online. if u DID buy it new, your error can only mean a typo (in which case i dunno how u managed to install it to begin with), or somebody stole ur key. sorry :frowning:

That happens a lot methinks, just check any of the RTCW forums. I bought the Platinum version brand new, which comes with ET for convenience’s sake, and I got the Invalid CD Key a few times. Can’t remember what I did to cure it though. Search those forums, there are plenty of threads about it.

Then again, if it’s a second hand copy, it could be that the CD Key really IS already being used.

happend to me too, lost my cd key and i got a few from kazaa, they all in use :frowning:

i DID find my box again and got my CD key back :slight_smile: so if its second hand, ur screwed, ask sum1 who dosnt play online anymore
