None. The game is not out yet.
In fact, nobody can predict this. You could try to extrapolate Quake 4’s server usage or wait for the SD server crew to pop up with an answer.
Are you saying that your “UPSTREAM” is 6mb? or your “DOWNSTREAM” is 6mb?
My downstream is on average is 9 megs down and my upstream is 1.5 megs
I always assume the your “UPSTREAM MUST BE” between 64 kbps and 128 kbps per player slot.
that’s a max rate of 8000 and 16000 (bytes/s) respectivly which are common settings for similar games.
The equation is not linear, so a maxrate of 8000 might be enough for small fights, but might not be enough for a 32 player server. More stuff happens, so more stuff needs to be sent to each player.
Remember to take quality into consideration. You can have a big laggy server, or a very good small server. Both have their pros/cons.
Connection is usually the limiting factor before any other resources, but to avoid lag spikes, it’s best if the server is not used for anything else. That goes for the connection AND cpu cycles.

i don’t think you can host a server on cable. You really need a box at a datacentre. In most fps games you can’t run a server as home connections are usually less than 1mbps up, and you need at least that for a 10 player server. And home connections also tend to suffer from packet loss and ping spikes etc which renders the server useless, even if its 10mbps.

Are you quoting me? if you are, you should state so…
(looking for my post, brb)
EDIT:
Lol, i was replying to you back then:

Guess it’s fair that you qouted me. But I was like “Deja-Vu”…

yep its the same info u sent me so why not help someone with with the same info u sent me dude
maybe u can host an ET serv with so little ram, for servers you need atleast 1gig for ET and maybe 2gig(thats not much) for ETQW. and p4 is getting old too(i kno cuz i have it). and well… i have a network with constantly changing speed(what the heck is ELION doing? sometimes no net, sometimes i dl with 2.8MB/s) and i have a good ping in games, and basicly you need good upload speeds, as servers mostly send out data(seems like urs might be good.
so final evaluation is: (5 max)
CPU:3.5
RAM:2.5
NETWORK:4
cant have 5 cuz 5 is for a REAL server xD
No you don’t. A wolf ET dedicated server doesn’t really need much RAM or CPU. I occasionally run test servers on my local linux box which has 384 megs of physical RAM (SDR 66 no less) and 2 Celeron 366 CPUs. Works fine with a handful of clients. Obviously, you wouldn’t want to run a real public server with that low spec, but it does show how little it actually needs to run.
If other Doom3 based games are anything to go by, ET:QW will have much steeper system requirements. I wouldn’t expect any official word on these until there is a public demo or beta.
