Quake Wars pushd to "summer 07"

(kamikazee) #21

It will run. If you don’t like the speed, buy a better graphics card, or go complain on Nvidia’s boards please.

I tried Doom 3 with my Geforce 1, I didn’t go out to yell “NOOOOOOO” everywhere I could. In fact, I was even trying to play it trough with < 10 FPS.

Honestly, don’t worry. Speculations can make you look like a fool if they won’t come true.

Who invited all the kids?!

I didn’t do it! Must have been the neighbours.

Or some “I had enough” EA moderator sending people of their boards to this one.

Oh it runs doom 3 and quake 4 in high quality alright. What I don’t get is that sometimes the framrate was high and then when I load the game again a few months later, the framerate decreases a bit. Does the videocard start to “lose some stuff” as it gets older?

And by decreasing the video quality to medium from high, how much frames per second will increase? Alot that it could make gameplay better, or too little that it would still be choppy/slideshow?

I ran Doom 3 quake 4 and prey and gameplay was smooth enough that I don’t consider it choppy. There are some parts of the game where it does get choppy, but it sometimes happens and it sometime does not. It is unnoticable.

Let’s say the game stutters a bit from choppiness. I mean stutters rarely. Now if I reduce video quality to medium, will it stop being choppy? If I reduce it to low, will the gameplay be completely smooth?

The default video quality for all 3 games is high quality. In my laptop with doom3 that can’t run quake 4 is low, but my desktop is high for all 3 games.

I’m afraid that it willl be choppy at even low quality. I just want the game playable. Although I like the graphics, I’d wait for that and focus on if the game will run smoothly first before anything else.

I’d say that probably has to do with the terrible, terrible, eye-gougingly heinous jpeg over-compression that is defiling that image.

If it doesn’t leak any strange fluids, no. The only reason would be your O/S health or your video drivers’ quality decreasing.

It will run smoother, but it may still choke. Doom 3 had a few quirks when it was new, (due to ATI drivers too) causing the game to choke every time a door was opened and a whole new area was to be drawn.

Than it should be pretty OK.

As I said: try and you’ll know. It could as well be your sound card.

FPS is indeed king. But wait for the demo and you’ll have the chance to try out all settings.

Or a more likely option that its an artists impression, some of the early pic releases (such as the loading screen) weren’t screens but drawings.

Some people say they’re ok with the pushed release to get it done, so the game won’t be crap like BF, which needs new patches ‘all the time’ (I have never played it, so I have no clue how often you need to dl new patch).

Thought, If they released it, let’s say in this month, as a little buggy, we would be able to play it already!

But then, of course they want a game that doesn’t need any patches to fix it.

Of course I would like it to be released already in this month, but more I want a good finished game.

Just a thought…

The truth is that it’s a screenshot from the crappy PDF which was stretched over two pages.
