Quake Wars: Protect the Ark Map

IGN has a look at a new map for Quake Wars… It’s called Ark!, and they show the map layout and objective details. Has two new screenies as well.

I really hope there will be 6 maps GDF attacking/6 maps Strogg attacking (or at least some kind of balance, like 5/7), so that you just choose which side to play, rather than choosing to be attacker/defender most of the time.

Nice.

Actually I like more to attack.
May be there could be a server side option to swap teams after map change if necessary.
So that a player is always in the attacking or defending team whether it’s strogg or GDF.

Edit:

May be a clientside setting.

Yea, I prefer to attack as well. If the defending team is short on members, howerver, I’ll join them, of course.

Still I would dislike it that because one prefers to attack/defend, he/she gets to play less GDF/Strogg, such as in ET attackers play Allied more often, defenders Axis. In ET this might not be a real problem, as the two teams are just reskinned versions of each other. In ETQW, however, the two teams are different - and I’d like to play both sides equally no matter if I prefer to be attacker/defender. :slight_smile:

Great! But I have one concern, we have only seen two maps and both are “dynamite plannted!” objectives. I just hope that the other 10 maps will include a little more variety like “objective taken!”. Maybe stealing the Strogg radar parts or steal the GDF war documents. Invade the Strogg Beach? Get the Strogg Gold?..lol

PS I am looking forward to future total conversions of the maps like the RTCW “DEPOT”. :slight_smile:

Oh bad, the RTCW maps keep on haunting us… RTCW and W:ET are still compatible, but ET:my QW won’t be. They’ll need serious changes to make them work, and will need to be fully retextured.

Whilst I want to port the concept of ET Headshot 2 to ET:QW for practicing purposes, I’d change the map completely.

Yah I know, I’m a wishful thinker. But I would love to “re-do” Depot and the Beach, Megatexture style. And I would love to remake some of my favorite Halo pc maps. Like, Infinety and Death Island. Both of those maps are HUGE and I always wanted to see those maps done in W:ET. But when the new mapping tool comes out w/QW I think that would be a perfect chance to make those.

I don’t know…that’s just me though. :beer:

Hmmm…I’m still waiting for the conversion of mp_castle (and those nice sd maps) to et ahem and you’re talking of converting the maps to quake wars??

I’m a great fan of dual objective maps where both teams have to defend and attack… and both teams can win the map. Wizerness for RTCW was awsome, would like to see something similar from 3rd party mappers in ETQW.

I’m a bit worried about the size of the last area… Maybe that could be split into a few smaller areas, like making a small area in the southern part of it?
