Quake red screen?

(MrEatYou) #1

I have a problem with quake. The game runs fine on high, and I’m having fun with it, but one large problem: everything is red. I can still see the game but not in it’s full glory because of this “redness”. Any diagnoses or solutions? Thanks in advance.

P.S. sorry if I’m braking any rules, new to these forums.

I’ve heard this one before, unfortunately that was on the previous forums which died a painful but quick death.
Try updating your video drivers.

yep, another drivers[and/or carefully cleaned previous installation] can help.

note: its called “Orange Screen of Doom” or OSoD “in short”.

Hmm, thanks for the help guys. I’ll try reinstalling before I update anything.

Reinstalling the game ? It’s useless, just update your ATI driver, it was the fix to use.

sometimes corrupted MS VC libs installation cause similar effect.
sometimes, lack of DirectX updates.
but in most cases, as said before - improperly installed/outdated driver.
also google about cleaning previous drivers installations[especially if you had enother vendor(ie NVidia) in system, previously].

p.s.
also saying “quack !!” aloud - can help.
