Q3Map 2.5.4 - Deus Faux Machina

Win32 (x86) - Linux (x86) - Darwin/Mac OS X (PPC) (2.3.36) - Readme

Quake 1, Quake 2, Half-Life, and Unreal mappers, your day has come! You’ll no longer need to feel left out in the cold, watching your mapper brethren have all the fun of using Q3Map2. Yes, today you’ll be able to enjoy all the same privledges and features they’ve been enjoying for years, like bump mapping, phong shading, and radiosity that doesn’t take two weeks to compile your Counter-Strike masterpiece.

Edit: April Fools!

The rest of the update is real, and this is the latest official version.

2.5.4 (2003-04-01)

  • New: q3map_tessSize support for JK2/SOF2
  • New: -lightmapsize N argument
  • Fixed bug where switched styled lights weren’t working correctly in SOF2/JK2
  • Fixed bug where external lightmaps with generated shaders were referencing
    the wrong lightmap
  • Fixed bug causing lightgrid brushes to be ignored
  • Added variable sphere around trace sample points to inhibit occluder geometry

So does this mean that there is a way to use a .rad file (for Halflife editing)? hum… well i guess its too early yet for all the tutorials to come out about editing for HL using GTK radiant (new update w/ addition of HL support).

I’m glad to see the fix in JO switched styled lights, best version since 01.04! :moo:

I don’t really get this, why release a Q3map for Unreal and UT2K3 when UnrealED already compiles them and at fairly descent speeds too? Is there another Unreal Editor out there? Or Does GTKRaidiant suuport Unreal now? :???:

(pazur) #5

uhmm… i was very happy about 2.5.4 fixed lightgrid brush ignoring. checked it out, but still the same problem. now this:

q3map_2.5.4_win32_x86.zip

contains q3map2.exe

Q3Map - v1.0r © 1999 Id Software Inc.
Q3Map (ydnar) - v2.5.3
GtkRadiant - v1.3.5-dev Mar 6 2003 20:31:29
One compiler to rule them all

v2.5.3? … readme.txt has 2.5.4 as latest version

It’s an April Fool’s joke.

Fool.

(pazur) #7

(pazur) #9

thanks ydnar  lightgrid works again

(U.S.S. Speed) #10

Since ydnar still didn’t add the last version of Q3Map2 I compiled…

If you don’t like the “Q3Mac2”, just rename it.

(Makro) #11

For some reason, map entities no longer seem to be fogged when compiling with the latest versions (2.5.3, 2.5.4)

Everything’s fine when I compile with older versions (2.3.38 for example). Is there any new key that I have to set for these entities ?

(ydnar) #12

Hm, that’s odd.

I assume all of these entities have origin brushes? Are you using a large, level-wide fog brush? If so, make sure there is an exposed face somewhere, usually at the top, sometimes in a “chimney” of sky brushes.

(Makro) #13

There are some entities that don’t have origin brushes (like the breakable windows) and they’re not fogged either. And yes, I’m using a large fog brush, but there’s a special caulk room ‘outside’ the map that it intersects at the middle (so the map is not completely inside the fog brush).

(hummer) #14

You are evil my friend, evil.

When are you going to take this down? People are starting to believe this…

(ydnar) #15

Makro:

Try the 2.5.5 test version on the site now. I have recently addressed some fog issues.

@Ydnar: Can’t connect to your site over at http://www.shaderlab.com :frowning:
I’m in desperate need of q3map2 version 2.5.4…

Do you or anyone else have it somewhere else online? VilePlanet only shows an older version 2.3.5 IIRC and that’s the same version I have on the last backup made :frowning:

Thanks in advance!

(ydnar) #17

It’ll be up in a day or so.

I was late renewing the domain…

(Makro) #18

I tried 2.5.5-test2 - the problem’s still there… :frowning:

(Charmin Deluxe) #19

i have problems with mapobjects in fogs to … look here:

but i can rememer its in 2.3.38 too …

(ydnar) #20

Use the latest test version of 2.5.5.
