pushing and shoving

With all the ET:QW excitement going on lately, I haven’t seen many W:ET gameplay questions here, but is still seems a good forum for it.

After playing engineer almost exclusively for years, I’m playing as soldier (and other classes) as well sometimes nowadays.
When I take my favourite MG position in the custom map Caen (i.e. on the roof, overlooking the alley leading to the ammo/health cabinets), I keep getting shoved off the roof. It’s happened several times the last few days, by different players on different servers.

Is it concidered bad form to camp with the MG like that? I mean, that’s what it’s for, isn’t it? And it’s really a great spot for the MG, you’re almost untouchable and you’re defending a key chokepoint.

That spot is fine mate, you are just playing alongside what is technicall called (in the ET world) a bunch of turds.

It should be plain impossible to push someone with deployed Mg42, and perhaps mortar, too.
It would be pretty hard to deliberately block entrances this way, because people can jump over you.

I’m not sure whic spot are you talking about, perhaps because I prefer to play Axis on Caen (challenge). Mg42 is very useful from preventing allied artillery spam if you deploy it on truck or on stairs. I usually get several kills before cocky allies realize what’s going on.

This hasn’t been mentioned anywhere, but is pushing/shoving already implemented in official ET:QW build ?

Today I was guilty of shoving a mortar guy off a wall. He’d been given too much ammo and I didnt have any, so I went to get one of his ‘spares’…It didn’t pick it up, so I had to ‘grab’ it by pressing the…cough ‘activate’ key which also happens to be the ‘shove’ key.

He fell to his death. I ran away before anyone noticed and asked for ammo to make it look good…

That’s what I was thinking. Just started doubting because it happened a lot and the last time it happened, the pushing player later turned out to be a very standup and skilled player, you know, the kind that rushes into enemy fire to revive and such. Maybe he was in a bad mood earlier, or his kid brother was behind the keyboard for a while.

Jokes aside, shoving can be a major annoyance. yeah its great for getting door blockers out of the way, but it appears for a lot of people to be a great way of forcing their way through teammates who are trying to get out of spawn as quickly as they can anyway. Even more annoying is when you are leaning round a corner and you get shoved out into the path of an incoming enemy… Or witness the shoving match that occurs as two coverts fight over a dead body for its uniform!!

The worst one for me was when I was building a command post and was shoved off of it by an another engy who then completed it just for the xp… I wouldnt have minded if he simply had helped me. wether he got the xp or not…

I’ve found that sometimes when I get shoved off an objective, it jars a nade loose :wink:

Not necessarily relevant to this thread but a while back I was playing on a server and 3 times a cov managed to kill me and “try” to steal my uni. Each time I managed to drop a nade at my feet just before getting killed and then watched the cov wander over, start stealing my uni … boom
