Punkbuster Update 1.747 for W:ET

Yesterday, Evenbalance released a new Punkbuster update. It has been over 6 months since the last update for Wolfenstein Enemy Territory was released.

“Version 1.747 of the PB Server for ET has been released to our PB Master Servers for auto-update and to our website download page. This is a maintenance release.”

The spontaneous PB kicks on No Quarter PB enabled servers should belong to the past, according to NQ developer Irata, “The current dev build runs […] without kicking the windows clients. I assume 1.2.3 does too”.

I always thought the Support of PB for ET has already ended.

Does somebody know what this Update does exactly?

I guess, it is a cumulative update of all the things which have changed.

Windows 7, Somw Vista users, have been kicked by PB.
Some mods made problems for windows users and it kicked them aswell.
I hope and suppose both issues have been adressed.

That is good news I got kicked by PB on Jaymod 2.1.7 on my own server yesterday wtf.

This new PB version kicks irregulary for PB GUID Auth. UNKN at map start/end. Afaik all mods are affected.

‘For every dirty problem there is even a dirty solution’ but I can’t say this makes me happy:

Set PB_SV_GUIDRelax 1

0 = Will kick for ALL
1 = Will not kick UNKNown GUIDS
2 = Will not kick for wrong IP addresses
3 = Will not kick for UNKNown GUIDS and wrong IP addresses
4 = Will not kick for DUPlicate GUIDS
5 = Will not kick for UNKNown GUIDS and DUPlicate GUIDS
6 = Will not kick for wrong IP addresses and DUPlicate GUIDS
7 = Will not kick for UNKNown GUIDS, wrong IP addresses, and DUPlicate GUIDS

WTF UNKNown GUIDS ?

Version 2.186 of the PB Client for ET has been released to our PB Master Servers for auto-update and to our website download page. This is a maintenance release.

Some of our players reported that those ‘PB GUID Auth’ kicks disappeared, so fingers crossed.

hell I love pb updates, they always introduce a new bug!

thats what i’m getting now:

  • the pb_cvarval command is broken it returns only rubbish now!

Yeah, they’re really on a roll :smiley:

But I guess they felt the hot breath of all those complaining Windows 7 users, the various mod devvers (like NQ) and the streaming ban communities like pbbans.com, who stopped streaming bans for ET at June 1st cause guids from innocent people were being spoofed…

You just can’t ignore the ET community, or they will hunt you down for the rest of your life :stroggbanana:

If there weren’t any problems they wouldn’t release these updates :wink:

PB randomly kicked people on the latest NQ (1.2.3) release for ‘Corrupted File/Memory [124008]’, but with the new update these problems stopped.

Both, unless you deliberately block it but that wouldn’t be very practical.

We have confirmed that non-cheat software caused some of the kicks for Violation #70762. We encourage admins to give players the benefit of the doubt and ignore this violation number; it has been removed from our system.
