Ok, happened again. PunkBuster Masterserver dead.

“pb_sv_guidauth setting defaults to 1 meaning that the PB Server requires connecting players to properly authenticate with the PB Master GuidAuth Server; when set to 0, PB allows all players to connect without the authentication requirement.”

Now I would like to know what exactly is checked here… Can cheaters do harm if we leave our server set to ‘0’?

The only danger I can see for having the identification off is that someone can use your GUID.

Also, I assume that the pb hardware bans cannot be enforced.
