Punishment for excessive language/negative behaviour

(Sorotia) #21

Some really salty higher level players recently, dealed with a low or mid level 40 something players who literally had hackusations on hotkey for whenever someone kicked his ass.

Wasn’t very good…ended the game with a negative k/d…just a salty high level player…seems to be more of them going around.

(KUST__LunarTM) #22

Really? I’ll have to check that out when I get off work.

Much easier than manually muting everyone. Thanks!

(Teflon Love) #23

That makes it kinda hard to teamwork, doesn’t it?

(LifeupOmega) #24

Tab, Right Click, Mute.

Good joke, teamwork doesn’t happen in public. And it certainly won’t happen in conjunction with the guy yelling at you.

(Herr_Hanz) #25

i would like to see this. but its so much fun to see people rage.

once some guy was screaming for medic in voicechat, while he was downed next to the elevator in the last stage of underground. i ran up to him, said nope, and left XD. im not a huge troller, but i felt like it, just because he was from my country and he was being annoying

i hate it when the only thing in the chat is 1 guy spamming ‘i need a medic’

(Sithas) #26

a fitting punishment would be to force said rude player to play 1 match against a full team of shotgun proxy´s alone

(Weekendwarrior) #27

@teflonlove I have never heard anything productive or useful over a voice chat ever. It’s always just someone pointlessly screaming ‘MEDIIIC!’ or ‘AMMO!’ through a crappy mic so its inaudible most of the time.

Anyone worth saving knows v21/V22 is way better because it reveals your location so can we come to you

(watsyurdeal) #28

Well, here’s the rotten truth here guys.

Thing is, we can’t start telling people what they can and can’t say, I mean for one it’s a pub, two, it’s free speech, and unfortunately with free speech, like any freedom, there’s people who use it for good, and then there’s these ass holes. But that doesn’t mean that a) you need Nexon or Splash Damage to fight your battles for you. And b) it certainly doesn’t mean you stoop to their level.

You know how I deal with these people?

I slaughter them, again and again in game, and destroy their will. No words, let your actions speak, that you won’t let yourself be rustled by them, show them what you’re made of. And they’ll either leave or be too angry to speak.

Truth is they’re kids or some un nurtured adult, who has to act like a jerk just to get attention. Don’t give it to them, just destroy them in game. Problems solved.

Also…I swear I’m a nice guy irl, I just don’t show mercy when I play. >:)

or u can get ur team to join in a group teabag session for whoever’s pissing you off. I feel thats works very nicely as an alternative, if ur not as kind hearted as watsurdeal.

(watsyurdeal) #30

Nah, I’d rather just kill em over and over, like shooting Demons on Mars

Beat me to the punch, lol. But yeah, it’s pubs. Most people in pubs probably don’t even look at the chat and end up just doing their own thing, working together with whoever is nearby at the time. I honestly find myself having a better time without chat. Less stuff on my screen to distract me.

(RyePanda) #32

Just because a right is granted in the United States’ Bill of Rights, does not mean it applies to the internet, where publishers are allowed to limit what is said.

(watsyurdeal) #33

They aren’t really, what if it’s a legitimate criticism? Or complaint? Or just someone’s opinion about something?

The publisher doesn’t have the right to police what everyone says, and it’s also not up to them to play parent because someone else is being a douche.

Like…I get the anger, but be an adult and handle it yourself.

There is teamwork, but when that happens, a vote shuffle or a map restart also happens. (Because apparently it is suddenly unfair when one team hunts for frags and the other plays the objective.)

Wait that isn’t entirely true… It is infuriating when there is absolutely no team-play, which is surprisingly rare. (It is either low level characters looking for Dandelions and Pineapples, or high level characters playing team deathmatch.)

As for banning players for use of language… I am against that. Sometimes I just want to tell a teammate to stop being a dumb cunt. (Not that offensive thing to say in some places than it is in others.) Heck, such a report function would be used to report anyone even daring to suggest that someone should try to do something else…

And honestly… what would a FPS game be, if there were no Shit-posting and Salty-ness?

(Xenithos) #35

Yeah, Watsyurdeal is pretty much always right in these regards. Just like SD making Casual matchmaking, etc. Like… they’re trying to kill the already dead horse (ranked).

In this case yeah. Can’t limit free speech, even if people are being jerks and ruining other’s days.

If that was sarcastic, then I didnt get it. Of course publishers can and do police what is being said. Lot of games already censor 4-letter-words.

And we are not talking about legitimate criticism here. There is a different between: “Skyhammer, it is important to throw ammo. Otherwise we lose.” and “Hey, Skynoob, was your mother a whore? Give fucking ammo you god damn motherfucker”.

And when they feel that there is a hostile atmosphere in their game, which drives players away and they thus are losing money… of course, it is up to them to play parent and take care of the douche.

Nexon TOS - 3.2 Code of Conduct: “We reserve the right, in our sole discretion, to take any actions we deem necessary and appropriate to preserve the integrity of the Service. We further reserve the right to determine what conduct is outside the “spirit” of the Service and games provided therein.”

Code of Conduct Section F: “You will not engage in rude, unlawful, harassing, vulgar, obscene, hateful, threatening, abusive or otherwise objectionable behavior, including, without limitation, intentionally looting, intentionally kill stealing, making sexual or other inappropriate comments.”

Nexon can do whatever they want in regards to providing the service to players. Will they tho? Most likely not unless its really bad.

(LifeupOmega) #38

Kill stealing is still a term people throw about?

(AlphaUT) #39

Kids are everywhere, just like cancer

(Teflon Love) #40

Yeah, I know that guy too  Hopefully there will be a permamute function eventually.

However, in my experience on min 10 and min 20 servers it’s not uncommon to hear people report on planters, defusers, nests of buildings or even suggest a direction for a coordinated effort.
