PSA: "Thread Sync" changes.

(Faraleth) #1

Hey everyone,

A quick PSA here in regards to the recent “One Frame Interval” setting changes, for those who haven’t read/don’t want to read the full patch notes. This setting is now called “Thread Sync”, however the on/off has actually been reversed.

After this update you will find Thread Sync ON in your options menu. To maintain a higher and more consistent frame-rate, you will want to turn this OFF. Turning it off is effectively the same as having the old option “on”.

  • Faraleth

EDIT: This only applies to the IN-GAME menu. Config files have not changed.

(RazielWarmonic) #2

Also as a side note, it’s still called “OneFrameThreadLag=” in the config. You want this ON if previously had this ON, and OFF if you previously had it OFF.

(MarsRover) #3

I had it on OFF before the update and just checked that it’s still OFF.

(CirclesofJerk) #4

The tooltip appears to not have been changed, making it misleading.

(Faraleth) #5

@MarsRover If you are talking about the config files, those are the same. However, if you had “One Frame Interval” (from the in-game options menu) OFF before the update, then you should now turn it ON for the same result. The on/off has been switched for purpose.

(RazielWarmonic) #6

You’re right.

Noted.

Ah, thanks!

(Telzen) #8

I’ve already changed this but my performance is still worse than before. Anyone else having performance issues?

(NxA_Noxie) #9

Hey everyone! QA is aware of the issue with the tool tip and the Thread sync. We are looking into these issues as I type this. <3

(Faraleth) #10

@NxA_Noxie Work harder, before I write an angry reddit thread on how broken the game is!

(MarsRover) #11

So I did a test - switchlevel OBJ_Dome

Thread Sync ON (supposedly One Frame Interval = OFF): 240fps
Thread Sync OFF (supposedly One Frame Interval = ON): 140fps

Something’s not right.

I had One Frame Interval OFF, after the update Thread Sync was also OFF. Never messed with config files outside of ShooterUI.ini.

@MarsRover interesting… They stated they had reversed the on/off purpose for this one. Unless that was wrong in the update notes.

As I said before though, if you are using config file changes, everything should be the SAME. The PSA above is only in regards to the in-game options menu.

No idea what’s this thing, but thanks for the info.

(Telzen) #14

Yeah so I cut mine back on and it feels better again. Maybe they forgot to switch them lol.

(sneak) #15

The reason it may not be working as you expect is because it doesn’t switch unless you set it in the config to “True” and make the config file read only.

I’ve reported the tooltip problem and the problem with it not letting you adjust it in the in-game options in the following threads:

(GiantGiant) #16

I wonder why there is double Thread Sync option in Video Setting during gameplay and why there are more options to turn off/on than in main menu graphic settings?

Also why there are some setting ON when I turned them OFF? These setting are FALSE in .ini file. Visual bug? (I have unchecked Read Only before changing anything in game)

(TheAcidpiss) #17

this thread is hurting my head

(CLS) #18

Did any of you notice a visible difference between ON & OFF in terms of input lag?

(Ctrix) #19

What does this setting even do.
