Proxy is nearly awesome.

I am realy liking this merc.
Her secondary is realy good. at close range and at mid range.
At long range not so much, prrbble due to fall-off dmg.
actually i am using her secondary as primary and only use shotgun as a finish-weapon.

Her speed and tricks are nice.

Suggestions to improve.

  1. a litlle tweak to falloff dmg. long range is too much
  2. some kind of lunge-action with a bat. not deadly, but damaging, or maybe stunning.
  3. very small tweak to shotgun. make it more consistent. now you have 1shotkill at close and 4-5 goodshot to kill at mid. should be 2 at close and 4 at mid.

BUG:

her mines do not deal damage at some objects. (waterloo last)

She needs a secondary fire for her mines though.

Suggestions:

  1. spider mine from quake 2 mod (they feel enemy within several meters and move towards the enemy like creepy spider and explode when they reach enemy)
  2. Anti-EV mine. takes both mines, but deals a lot of dmg to the EV.
  3. laser mines from ETQW for corridor blocking.

Proxy herself is fine, but her shotgun needs improvements mostly concerning the falloff of the damage. Talked to Smooth already, hoping it will be corrected in the next patch.

yeah, 4-5 headshots in midrange is a little bit too much after 1 shotkill in close range.

i just like the feel of her secondary. perfect rof, perfect recoil. nice spread. only falloff dmg prrbbly needs tweaks (need to test more.)

I like proxy very much, but:

proxy and the othere engineers needs a plier to select, because its really annoying when fallen teammates cover the dynamite and you “helping up” instead to disarm.

With mines being close to invisible on some parts of the map, the shot guns = 1 shot 1 kill at close range and the machine pistol being so effective at range she has too much going for her.

  • Mines should be triggered no matter who runs over them. Even if FF is off they should be detonated.
  • Machine pistol to be swapped with a smaller pistol or her shotgun to be less effective.

In any situation she is the better merc. A light merc should hold lighter weapons. Shot guns should be moved to heavy mercs and due to the fact she is light, agile and fast she should have things that are less effective in close quarter combat.

Or balance other mercs to get on her level?

i disagree on nerfing Proxy apart from her Shotgun being too powerfull.
I want all the mercs to be fun. Proxy is extremely fun.
Make other mercs as fun as proxy = win.

I suggested either swapping the machine pistol or reducing the effectiveness of the shotgun at close range. The mine thing should be a given, anybody should be able to trigger the mines not just the enemy. How on earth would a trigger mine know it was a merc fight for the same cause?

about mines - as logical as you may sound, the FF mines will be useless, and nobody will ever use them i think. triggering on enemies is the essence of mines in all games that i’ve played.
i would go with implants, that are felt by mines, so they do not trigger on teammates.

Have to disagree. You would just have to use the mines in a lot less careless fashion. Right now people are throwing them down everywhere. I cast my mind back to ET where if you did that chances are your team mates would run over them so you’d have to think about where you put them.

Mines should be automatically armed. HOWEVER Automatic arm should ONLY have a low damage snare/concussion effect. Obviously not as strong as conker. Just incredibly annoying and potentially able to flash multiple players.

Then Proxy can ‘prime’ the mine manually which turns the mine into a high-explosive lethal mine.

That way she can still keep littering her mines around and be an asset to the team, but she won’t net any free kills from the ones that aren’t guarded or primed.

At this rate a low-effort proxy will still be useful to the team, but a high-effort proxy will be the one reaping all the personal kills and xp.
