Probs with PB after rebuild :{

Just rebuilt the aul PC, OS is XP with Service Pack 1, which is what was on it before the rebuild.

I put a fresh install of ET on my C: drive.

First up I joined server with old configs etc and kept getting kicked by PB - PB INIT FAILURE - this kept happening all ze time, after about 2 minutes on any server I get kicked.

Ran pbweb.exe, still get kicked

Made sure I had admin rights on XP etc, still kicked

Totally uninstalled ET, rebooted & reinstalled ET

Went through the full process of creating the first Profile etc - I get to Enable Punkbuster - click on YES, and ET freezes - just get an audio loop from the soundtrack

I try creating the Profile without Enabling PB, then try enabling it within the options from In Game menu - ET freeze again!

I searched Google, PB & here for some response, but have seen nothing that works.

By the way ET was working fine before the rebuild & I can host a game on local server without any problems.

The only Firewall/AV I have running is Zonealarm - which is what I had before the rebuild as well

Please help if you can, I need my ET!

Now tell us how you solved it please. (It might help someone else with the same problem, or (which isn’t bad) make us laugh. :wink: )

I think it was because the servers I was joinin where running versions of PB that hadn’t been updated. So when I’d run pbweb.exe it was causin problems. SO when I reinstalled clean next time, i didn’t run pbweb. Went in, created the Profile as normal, then enabled PB.

ET seemed to freeze when I was enabling PB, but I tried again and says to myself “maybe just wait and see if it’ll come out of the freeze and enable it”. And low and behold!!!

So, have a bit of patience (unlike me) and just wait for it to enable - instead of shoutin at the screen and openin Task Manager and killing the programme before it has a chance to do its thing. :oops:
