Problems with W:ET

(*Evil*Eikel*) #1

Hey, i have a problem with enemy territory. I have a amd athlon 2200+ processor but even in the main menu of enemy territory it uses 100% of my cpu, in game that results in like 2 or 3 fps. How is this possible because a 600 megaherz processor should be able to run it, a 2.2ghz really should!! Oh reinstalling my pc today…

P.S. i m new to this forum, maybe i posted at the wrong place.

try new graphic drivers… that shouldn’t be the solution to that 100% cpu problem but your fps lags should have a end with new drivers i think otherwise post it here

(*Evil*Eikel*) #3

Well, I have the latest drivers, and rtcw has no problems at all!

(Bravo) #4

What RAM do you have?

(*Evil*Eikel*) #5

768mb ddr pc 3200

What exactly is your graphics card? An integrated one wont do the job at all. That your cpu is at 100% is not a problem as ET is cpu hungry and all games like to use the full cpu pwer.I get 80 fps @ AMD Athlon 1800+, 1 GB DDR266, ATI Radeon 9600pro EZ 256MB.

(BTW your cpu is not 2,2 GHz, its only comparable to an 2.2 GHz Pentium. Mine is 1533MHz as well. Your CPU is clocked 1800MHz.)

Yeah your right. I have a AGP Nvidia N6600 grafic card (overclock doesnt make difference, i tried it).

600 megaherz processor

That sounds a bit shit, why dont you get one which is at least 1GHz?

(kamikazee) #9

He said that a 600 MHz one CAN run it but his 2200+ can’t atm.

Have you running other services at the moment (MSN, Skype, Downloading, Antivirus (nortin is very bad if u use it…)). Try shutting down all of those programs, maybe one is fucking up everything.

I’ve been running Norton AV for 5 years now with hardly any problems. Sure it runs multiple processes, but in total they only take up like 3 MB of system memory. That is a small price to pay for piece of mind - I have had one trojan only in all that time.

No AV is perfect, but 1 problem in 5 years is pretty damn good. There is nothing wrong with NAV, but people get cranky when they see all the process names in task manager. Usually these same people are the ones that run every single default service in XP and run a ton of other unneccesary things also.

Never leave your firewall or AV off to play a game. It may work, but your asking for trouble. All these types of software have mechanisms to allow games to work through permissions- just learn to use them.

This is pretty obvious, but be sure to have updated your graphic drivers and directx (for directinput/directsound). There’s no reason why the game should run so bad in that machine.

I had problems with my parents, but i ll be reinstalling my pc soon. i hope it will be fixed then. Oh and the only thing i run besides et is teamspeak.

(Nail) #14

make sure you update motherboard chipset drivers as well

(*Evil*Eikel*) #15

Hm how to do that, can you check for me? I’ve got a MSI MS-6367 motherboard.

It also depends on what versions and system spec. But every norton kept on getting worse (2004 and before was ok) but 2005 and 2006 are unusable by my system. It takes 2 mins longer to start my pc. Then i want to game fast, but no when i joined an server in ET i can wait 5 mins before the lag is gone out of the game (only getting 30 fps and much lag…)
