Problems with 2 people connecting from same IP

(SiD) #1

Me and my brother both want to connect to the same server but when we both connect or one connects after the other we both get the disconnected for unknown reason.

Does anyone know why this is doing it?

We only have one ip for dsl (currently upgrading to multiple ips) and 2 machines one networked off the main machine.

Thanks in advance

You need to set a unique net_port for each computer.

How it’s done

Tried that, and it didn’t work still getting the same disconnect message as before :frowning:

Seem to recall that it’s not possible to connect to the same server from the same IP# since id wanted to prevent the use of proxy bots. It should work fine to connect to different servers from the same IP# though.

It’s possible that you get kicked because you’re both using the same cdkey/GUID. Did you do a fresh install on the second PC or did you copy the directory tree from one to another?

If the latter, delete the etkey file in the etmain directory on one of the two PC’s and then use \pb_cdkeyreg in the console to obtain a new one.

HTH.
