Problems when entering the next map (Mac OS X)

(etSpeer.) #1

Good day all,

I’ve finally installed (and working) ET in Mountain Lion.
I can play without any problems, everything works fine except when any other map loads.

Once the new map loads, I cannot see my own gun (just a red and blue line) and some shaders / textures are missing.
Other players I, hover, do see and I can walk around.

Is there any way to solve this problem? I’ve already tried all the things listed in the 2.60d topic about ML compatibility.
Also a reinstallation did not solve the problem.

Snow Leopard did not have this problem on my MBP.

Besides this, anyone who knows a work around for 2.60b on ML?

Thanks in advance!

Have you tried /vid_restart?

(etSpeer.) #3

Yes, multiple times and on multiple servers (even locally).

Isn’t 2.60d the latest version on Mac, and not 2.60b?

Since you speak about both, not sure if you have the latest version installed or not

I have the latest 2.60d installed, downloaded via here: http://www.splashdamage.com/content/download-wolfenstein-enemy-territory (that is the latest, right?)

2.60b doesn’t have anything to do with the problem I’m having.
I do however also want to be able to play ETPro which requires 2.60b.

Today, july 26, the problem is still happening. :frowning:

I’ve asked at the Sh.i.t Storm forums for help (thread with screenshots) but the possible solutions posted there didn’t help either.

Are there any other ideas?

Here is my console dump: http://pastebin.com/gMHmf54H

As you see, I’ve got Radiant installed, but even without it’s files the problem happens.

It would also be a great help if someone using a Mac (especially Mountain Lion) running 2.60d could post a console dump from a map change.

Maybe try ET:Legacy:

It would be nice if you could post more info about your mac, as reference for others. Not sure how its called on OSX anymore, but there is somewhere a list of all components, maybe copy paste that here?

The current best approach to my knowing is, to use JKJA Launch. Which should “fix” all issues. But you can still have troubles installing the game, but you already got that far.

If you use this launcher, be sure to have r_allowExtensions on 1.

Please tell us if this worked.

@ Mateos & ailmanki

Both options did not solve the problem.
I’m running OS X 10.8.3 Mountain Lion with graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT 128 MB.
4GB memory, 500GB HDD.

Before I used to run OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard on the same system (no hardware changed) without any troubles. Same settings (except fixes explained earlier) and the latest version of 2.60d. since 2.60b is PPC (PowerPC) I cannot run it since there is no PPC support anymore in Mountain Lion.

Yesterday I was paying around and (with the normal launcher) I played on some Nitmod servers without the problem appearing! So it surely has something to do with No Quarter imo.

Try this nvidia update:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/macosx-313.01.01f03-driver.html?ClickID=astlp5n5s0w9rk0ra5ykroyszr5vtnatvsks
Ehrm, if you try that, I suppose you cannot really uninstall it. Well maybe you can - but my OSX experience says me, that is gona be a one time install. So better make a backup first.

There one guy claims it also happened under windows with a nvidia 8800, so could be driver and gfx card related.

Thanks for your reply.

I’ve checked that update but it’s stating this:
This driver update is for Mac Pro 5,1 (2010), Mac Pro 4,1 (2009) and Mac Pro 3,1 (2008) users only.

I have a MacBook Pro and it’s from 2007, so I’m not going to risk it with this update.
However, I will dig more into the NVIDIA updates, maybe I can find another one that will work on my system.

I’m going to check out that thread, thanks.

Found this for RtCW:

Could this be related?

(etSpeer.) #13

No this can’t be related, PPC apps don’t open up at all. 2.60b is one like that. It makes it impossible for 10.7+ users to play anything that requires 2.60b (like etpro).
But NQ requires 2.60d, which is for intel.
